Brake pad question

I have a 09 Cobalt ss and while braking from above 40mph my steering wheel shakes and I have screeching right before I come to a stop.

My question is could low brake pads be causing this? I plan on changing them tomorrow and was hoping this would solve the problem.

Also I have new rotors on the front and rears

Shaking wheel means your rotors are warped and need to be either replaced or turned down. The squeeking can be completely normal concidering they are a ceramic pad or there can be an issue. No need to really diagnose that issue at the moment, seeing as how you will now be either replacing or turning down the rotors, the pads should be replaced in order for everything to seat correctly.

I was thinking it was the rotors too and I had them replaced couple months ago and it completely stopped(yea I know I should have replaced the pads but didn't have the money at the time) so perhaps they are starting to warp again. So changing the pads and turning the rotors should solve the problem?

Yes sir. Milling or replacing the rotors will definitely stop the shaking in the steering wheel while you're on the brakes.

What rotors did you put on it when you replaced the rotors a couple of months back? You must drive the hell out of that car if you already warped a new set, unless they were crappy replacements.

Lol well they were OEM replaced by the dealer. The old ones had imprints from the pads I would assume due to the shaking. And I'm kinda surprised the new ones already might be warped. I don't auto x my car or anything and I kinda go easy on it

When you do your pads get the rotors turned and grease the **** out of the sliders. If you've had it in buffalo during the winter I bet that's causing your noise problem!

That is the right idea, but make sure you use high-temp grease, or it won't last...

(whoa, by quoting you, I got past the censors... haha)
