Brake pulsing question
Brake pulsing question
Having some issues with my brakes, and Im wondering if anyone has anything similar to this issue.
When the car stops randomly, once in a while i'll get a pretty bad shimmy from what feels like the front. Its almost like the ABS is on (light is not on) or if you were pumping the brakes. It feels like its lunging off and on as it slows down.. Happens more on a straight stop more than anything on a turn. Seems to happen at faster speeds, if I slam my brakes on the highway its noticable, around time it happens very sporatically. Sometimes it goes all day without it, sometimes its non stop. All 4 corners have powerslot rotors and Hawk ceramics. Called powerslot about the warranty on the rotors but I have to send them in first (which requires buying new rotors)
If anyone has any ideas of what else it could be before I buy new rotors it would be a huge help.
Thanks All...

Warped rotors would be my first instinct as well.
Another thought is improper wheel nut torque. If not tightened evenly and in the correct pattern, you can "warp" the rotors and wheels just enough that you feel it through the wheel. Not likely (you have to really screw up your torques big time to have any noticable effect) but still possible.
Given that it feels like it's lunging on the brakes, I still put the rotors at the top of the list.

The wheels are stock, but the tires are a year old.. I've had them balanced twice, and it was realligned recently too.. I was really hoping it wasnt the rotors.. powerslot said they would warranty the rotors but now I have to buy replacements first...
You could see about having the rotors turned at a professional shop. Some people may comment that you can't machine cross drilled rotors however it is standard operating procedure to turn the cross drilled Corvette rotors. GM's only statement is that before cutting rotors that are cross drilled, make sure the cutting tool has a positive rake on the bits. Same theory applies to your rotors event though their slotted.
