Regarding the rusty rotors, don't almost all rotors do it? Not many cars come w/ zinc or ceramic rotors stock. And it's actually the pad residue isn't it? I've seen Corvettes, BMWs, & others with rusty rotors, and I'm sure those cars all have better braking power than the Cobalt.

Thanks AlleyCat & Todd for the great info. I wash my car pretty regularly so I'm not concerned about the dust, but the one complaint I have with the stock rotors/pads is the alarming squeal they let out at very low speeds when they are damp. Holy cow!!! I am due for new rotors/pads and wouldn't think twice about replacing them with oem parts if it weren't for that sound. And I'll admit the rust is a little annoying, especially after you've just detailed the car.
