Brembo Rear Brake Swap
I no this is somewhat of a old thread now but has anyone actually done anything like this? I just recently completely re-did my front brakes, new everything. Wasn't cheap but needed to be done. I'm going to be completely redoing everything in the back, brake wise like in the front before august so I want to ditch the stock calipers and go for brembos. Any one got anything for this?
I saw someone saying they were putting 2 piston Brembo's on the rear of their LNF.
In the future I personally want to put the 4 pistons on the rear, probably due a little R&D or something along those lines. I already plan on tearing the rear apart so might as well have some fun with it right?

why do you need more rear braking ??? i know 95% of cobalt owners will never even use the front brembos to the full potential. over 70% of your braking is done by the front anyway, there is no "NEED" to upgrade the backs to anything bigger.
putting them on the rear is only for show in my opinion since there is no reason for bigger rear calipers.
just go buy some glue on caliper covers and do it up.

For myself I first wanted to do this for show, but since my Cobalt is my project car, I wanted to do it for fun and being able to add more braking power in the rear if I wanted would be fun.
*Not to mention those AWD conversions bro.
Your right most the braking on a stock setup is around a 70/30 bias front/rear.

Again, my project car that I'm working. My personal preference. Back end won't fishtail if you set up the rear brakes to be applied gently. A little testing and it will be fine. Thanks for the concern.
Then what is the point of installing bigger brakes if you're going to valve them so they don't engage as strongly? Seems pointless if you don't touch the front brakes and like a significant amount of trouble dealing with the brake valving system and the ABS system.

The answers have been posted. pick your poison. Or fab your own kit.
That and the added weight of the bigger brakes that aren't being fully utilized will hurt performance.
Some want to do it the cheap way and get caliper covers, that's fine, its your car, you dress it up how you like. Myself, I want legitimate 4 piston brembo brakes all around. I already have plans for the rear to be rebuilt, goals are beam/suspension, brakes related, etc. I'll make a build thread thing when its in progress. I talked with Brembo a while back and its possible no doubt, you just have to be willing to test & troubleshoot things. There's barely going to be a weight difference, and having them partially engage would be like having the same brake set up before you swapped. "Then why don't you just leave them the way they are and get caliper covers", you might ask. Well read the first sentence of this paragraph.
No car in existence has 4 piston Brembos on all for corners. If you want 4 pistons on the rear, you HAVE to swap to 6 pistons on the front, and spend even more money. If you absolutely have to have Brembos on the rear, do 2 pistons.

True, and that's the reason the factory doesn't do it, it makes zero sense.
As for the parking brake issue, I think Brembo now has that covered.
They have mechanical handbrake callipers now I see.
