Bumpstops.

To cut them or not? many people say to cut them and others say not too because it will wear out your shocks/struts quicker. I have eibach sportlines that i am going to install tomorrow so i Just want to get a conclusion on this as im sure many other people are wanting one too. their are probably other threads on this but i am not in the mood to search. Appreciate any info.

The instructions that come with the sportlines tell you how to cut them. I cut mine.

Is there any reasoning to back up cutting them or not?

I understand the extra travel if they are cut, and i understand the reasoning behind not cutting them... so you don't bottom out. Is there anything else that would make this thread a little more useful?

Maven, I have read somewhere else you posted you don't cut them to save the shocks and the undercarriage. Is there any other reason or is this the sole reason?

The reason it is called a "bump" stop is to limit how much the suspension can travel before reaching it's maxiumum down force so if you hit a large bump in the road the undercarriage can slam into the ground causing the controller arms and everything else to get messed up, slamming the wheels into the fender wells if they are missing . Not saying it will for sure but taking them out just means you have to be a little softer on hard bumps like if you get to a construction zone and it says DIP just gotta pay attention and try not to scuff the undercarriage ..

Yeah, there is a reason I am not cutting them. I am decided, I just wanted a bit more info for other people that are undecided. It seemed like people were just stating their opinion with no real substance to it.

But thank you for explaining.
