Baiscly . I'm still debating the strut insert idea. The strut body needs to be shorter.

looks good so far, i know its been a while since any progress has been posted.

have you come up with a solution for the length of the strut rod, for better thread engagement?

Wow , its been a while, i got preoccupied with life, and the lack of funds lol.
So i just ordered my koni 8610 1436 Race inserts. they should be here in by the 22nd .
I got a spare set of cobalt struts as well as a set of celica struts. I'll be cutting the cobalt struts down and welding the threaded tops of the celica struts to them, that way i can use a gland nut to secure the koni insert into place.

Here's a the cobalt strut cut up to measure.
The tab for the sway bar will be moved down an inch or so to allow more room for the coilover sleeve.

And here's a rough idea of what i'm planing on doing.

So it looks like my inserts will be here this Thursday. I started getting the parts prepped for assembly

here is the Cobalt strut with the celica threaded portion on top and the sway bar end link moved down, a new spring perch ring will be welded on, and the sway bar links will have to be shorted (or just ride with a lot of preload on the sway bar. this is just a test fit, i wont weld anything till the struts get here. stock strut right.

I should have gone with a sleeve with a completed thread. and i may weld a lip to the
spring perch for safety sake.

All the way down, with fully threaded sleeve there would be a little over an 1" more drop.

Coilover sleeves

I have these coilover sleeves and I was wondering if they will work with the stock top hats, and will I have to modify my stock struts in order for the coilover sleeves to work?

No clue. I don't know what top hats you have. I only found out what would work by jumping in and giving it a try. The problem i found with the stock struts is that you cant go much lower than most lower springs on them, they tend to bottom easily which is why i went with inserts.

Take note that for what this all cost me in the end i would have been better off buying cheap coil overs. thoes koni inserts were about 400 bucks by them selves.
