coilovers?

This going to be a bit dumb, but I'm new to American cars, and this is my 1st cobalt. Its a 2006 Ls sedan. I'm going to be upgrading the suspension, looking at the Eibach sway bar kit, and looking to get coil overs. However i don't understand how coil overs replace the rear suspension. i noticed on the rear the strut and the spring are placed in as 2 seperate parts one next to the other, but the coil overs are a 1 piece set up. can some one explain?

Rear coilovers ARE NOT one piece. They have a separate spring and damper. The spring perch is height adjustable and the damper has adjustable damping in most cases.

Yup. The KW Variant 1's would be a good option if you don't want to mess with damping. The Variant 2's have adjustable damping. I would be all over the V1's, but I don't want to see yellow springs and purple rear dampers through my 19's! lol

I vote for the KW's also, I would get the v2's though, If I had the $$$ I would go with the B & G setup.
