Cradle help

I have an '06 Cobalt LS (hey its all I could afford!). I drove around with an obvious suspension issue and only recent tried to fix it. Turns out the passenger side lower control arm rear bushing had gone bad and the control arm had a good inch or so of movement that it was not supposed to have. I have gotten the bushing repaired (GM dealership nearby told me I had to buy a whole control arm to get it and it would be $225, I got the bushing from Napa for $14). My problem now is that I cannot seem to get the cradle to drop low enough to get the control arm back in place. I have taken the two rear cradle bolts out and removed the ball joint from the driver side but still the cradle will not drop. Any idea what I am missing?

Just saw the write up for the control arm bushing replacement I'll try doing some of what was suggested there.
