custom strut bar

custom strut bar

so if i know how to weld can i just custom fab a strut bar for the front of my ss/sc..all the ones out there just look like a straight piece of medal conected from one side to another...can i do this is it wouldnt be hard..or is there more to these strut bars that im missing..there just for rigidity i thought to keep them inline and not swaying...

Because its much cheaper im sure. They are def a rip off. Im sure you could custom make one no prob.

try it, maybe if you do a good job you can sell them. i dont see it being that hard but i know nothing about welding

There was a guy that custom did them for the cavy. Strut bars and subframe braces.

Unless he is making strut tower plates and not welding it right to the towers.

If you can make it all one piece and from a solid material then go ahead
But that MRZ Strut Bar does look good under the hood so I'd say it's money well spent

i could use one since my turbo pipes are in the way for the aftermarket ones already out that i cant use.

I was thinking the same thing. I think I will do it this weekend.

im going to build my own. you dont need anything fancy, steel tubing will get the job done. i have built several, nothing to it really. havent yet built one for the cobalt, but will soon. i dont see the point in paying $150+ for something i can build for $10

most aftermarket parts arnt hard to fabricate at all.

Headers are quite easy, an intake is a breeze, and a strut bar is by far the easiest.

Measure twice, cut once.

Make sure your welds are nice and clean, then polish it up.


MRZ has a huge advantage due to their great polishing, and the fact they engrave it (and im sure they do custom engraving too)


$10-20 worth of material, and a few hours...and you can turn around and sell them for $150+
