Oh no not at all, concidering with the cat removed, there is so much air trying to be forced thru the muffler it's insane and sounds like a jet, but i suppose that's normal.....

Wtf?

Really man there arent going to be any noticable gains...You MAY get a hp out of it. Just spend the money on some new piping and then you will be set

I modified my exhaust . So its a hybrid 2.5 with a Borla . MOST of the stock exhaust is 2.5" pipe already , so I just cant see paying over 400 for a catback . From the downpipe joint to the bend just before the rear axle , its 2.5 . So I left that section alone , stock resonator and all . Cut it right there and made my own mandrel bent rear 2.5 section . Used a Borla Turbo XL 2.5 in/out oval muffler and a Borla tip .

Homemade 2.5 exhaust for 270 bux investment . I never dynoed it or tested it back to back ET wise when it was stock . It must work though , my car ET well for the mods it has .

Same thing I didn't see a need to replace piping that was already 2.5" but I have gotten rid of the header downpipe and now I am good!

Yea well you have to do a little more explaining rather than just assume we get your joke. I thought the SSSC had stock 2.25" pipe not 2.5"? Very possible im wrong...I just know if i left my LS factory pipe on there would be no noticeable gain with just a downpipe and muffler.

omg .. wtf is wrong with you people... stock ss and ss/sc exhausts are 2.5 to the axle... there are very minimal bends in the exhaust so it being crush bent is of little issue...

don't flame people when you don't even know the facts...

the biggest restriction in the cat back is the pillow muffler and the 2.25 axle back section. so replacing the axleback with a 2.5 piping and a more freeflowing muffler....WILL give you gains.. especially when paired with a header and or dp... will it give you 12 WHP? no... will it give you 8WHP? possibly... and it can cost about 1/5 or the price of an actual cat back...

jeez some people are so ignorant sometimes... ...

]to the OP yes many people have done this on their RL's and such.... with some decent results

a custom catback doesn't mean it sucks... and 90% of the time they're cheaper....
