I've seen drum to disc conversions for Cavailers for about $300-$400. Don't think they cost that much for the Cobalt.

This should give you an idea though RSM does tend to be a little more expensive than the compeition . Choose Cobalt on the left and it's about halfway down the page.

RSM

It probably wont be an antilock brake system.... the kit shouldn't cost much just because it's rotors, calipers, and lines. However, unless you plan on doing it yourself, install could be hell...

I don't think it would, I could be wrong though. But don't worry the rear wheels of cars rarely lock up, even when the ebrake is pulled. The front brakes are what you need to be worried about, which is why you have drums in the back.

oh, cool, thanks for the quick replies. now i just need to decided on which brand i want to go with and what color. black would match my car but i am thinking polished would contrast well with the black bars on the wheels i am getting.

No problem man, that's what forums are for

Anyone think that front rotors and calipers would fit the rear of an LS?

Unless you plan on cleaning you calipers like every couple hundred of miles I wouldn't go with the polished calipers. SSBC has a rear drum to disc conversion but I believe it's in the neighborhood of $1200, as of my own personal knowledge it's the only conversion kit out for the cobalts unless someone else has made one.

To add to the above, the SSBC rear kit requires that the front kit be installed too. So now you are up into the $2000 range. AND, you have to have at least 17" wheels.

I actually will probably do this modification after my factory set of brakes is used up. By then I should have the larger wheels too.

i was gonna go with 18"s and I plan on getting the front brakes done. I want more stopping power to offset the supercharger i plan on adding later.

SSBC doesnt require that you install the fronts. It's just recommended(cant spell) because it could ofset the braking balance.
