EBC Red Stuff Review

I put EBC red stuff pads on front and rear with gm slotted and drill rotors about 2,000 miles ago. They were really good for the street, no noise, not a lot of dust, and they had good bite to them. The main reason i put them on was because of the road course track days that i do. So i took the car out saturday to the track and ran all day with no problems with the brakes, other than getting a little hot. The next day the brake pedal was rock hard and the car would hardly stop....! I took the wheels off to check the pads and they were worn to nothing....! I took the pads off to look at them and the material turned white and felt like concrete. The paint on the edge of the material bubbled up and started coming off. An expensive day to say the least. I did a track day a couple months ago with the stock pads and did not have any such problems and they did not wear hardly at all. I am going to stick with the stock pads for now until something else comes along. Might try the hawk pads, but i hear they are hard on the rotors.

Interesting. I guess that settles that decision. The mighty Hawks or Green Stuff pads it is then. I used the Green Stuff pads on my Z24 with slotted rotors and they worked great. Weird.

I have to ask how many of you guys actually went lapping not just to the drag strip or street driving. Iceblue how much of the pad was left from the lapping? what kind of tires were you running? I tried green stuff pads with blank rotors on my Z24 in the spring and they were great, it was a two day time trial and I was on A048 Yokohama R compound tires and yellow stuff near the end of the year and they were ****.

I run falken azenis tires. The rear brake pads were down to the sensor and fronts were almost to the sensor.

The pads were great on the street. But anyone who does lapping days and time trials needs to be careful.

Maybe you should have gone with the EBC BLACKS as they made strictly for racing.
