Just stumbled across this while checking out brakes for my CRX road car. Anyone know anything about this?

Fastbrakes has some of the cheapest brake kits for Hondas. Im guessing this cobalt kit will have adapters and rotors. Could be as little as $250. This will kick ass if the rotors are decent.

How will this benefit braking?? The pad has the friction, which means that it would be doing the work. The stock pad and rotors are a matched set. To improve braking you would have to increase the pad size and rotor size. Look at the Mercedes Maybach, they have huge rotors and two calipers to stop all that weight.

Who said anything about increasing braking? There are a lot of other factors involved. Heat, fade, rotor life, etc. The stock rotors and pads eat ass. Any upgrade is a good upgrade.

The stock fronts are about 12.6" This kit is similiar to the AEM that used to be out. It uses you stock caliper on the new bigger rotor. It should come with the mounting relocating bracket for the caliper. Pretty easy to install...did one on my friends honda accord. It was around $500 to give you an idea. And yes it helps braking...just not as much as a big brake upgrade with more calipers, but for a third the price why not?

Yeah. Whats cool with this place is the identical thing for my CRX is $250. Could be close to that with the Cobalt. I would guess it will be more though since the Cobalt is just starting to gain popularity.

Yes but the pads might be quite a bit larger. I don't know for sure. Too much money anyway.

I emailed fastbrakes to find out about this kit. Here is the repsonse I received.

"It will hopefully use a 13+" rotor with the stock calipers. Waiting on
the
machine shop to make the prototype so I can fit it and determine final
rotor
diameter. I will also be making a 4 piston kit..."

The Big Brake kit is suprisingly REALLY awesome. The rotors in the front a SLIGHTLY bigger with a 2 piston and the rear are converted from a solid disc to the same size rotor as the front with a bigger single piston caliper. The price for these kits will more than likely never go down unless you can get some kind of group buy or special pricing through one of the distributors. If you can afford these brakes and plan on doing any kind of autocross or things like that it is totally worth it.
