to be honest i was thinking more like 30-40% cut in strut life.. i know the springs are stiffer you rely less on the strut. but the strut is also constantly pushed in an extra inch. and obviously there hasnt been much of a track record with these struts because they have been redesigned for the 08 ss/tc. so my question would be how did you come up with 10% as your conclusion?

B/c its only a 1/2drop in the front - and marginally stiffer than stock. By keeping the ranges so close to OEM,a 40% reduction in life doesnt add up.

Shock life is impacted by the seals and pistons contacting each other. And these springs have never hit their bump stops.

every shock I've ever purchased was compressed. If it was damaging i don't think they would ship the out like that. it's the seals that wear out from the strut rod repeatedly rubbing against them. IMO lowering springs will not increase the wear of your strut. It's a stiffer ride, right? so less motion on the actual shock. so isn't possible that lowering springs will increase the life of your shock. That's kind of the way i see it.

Get out to the track yet to see if it proves helpful on a track? Interested to see the results, because I really like the look but it would be nice for some for sure improvements or not.

What baseline do I have to compare against? Too many variables at the track. What it comes down to - truly - is comfort and looks.

just ship your car to Germany next week and i'll take it on the Nurburgring and see if
I can best the current times posted by the Cobalt. I'll be there for 3 weeks so I'll get
plenty of practice and of course I'll take really good care of your car......

SmokinJoe,

Now that it's been a few months, has your ride become bouncy, or much harsher?

Thanks,

Mal.
