Good setup for a drop?
Good setup for a drop?
I've got some 2" lowering springs. Don't remember the brand. But those are one stock LS shocks and struts. I don't wanna do full coilovers. So would the FE5 shocks and struts from CED coupled with my lowering springs be sufficient to give me a bigger drop then what I have already? I don't wanna slam it, just lower it a bit more.
Well my car sits about 8" off the ground as it is. That's **** poor quick measuring but it's around there. And that's on springs too. I'm just confused cause from what I've read some people say that when going from FE1 shocks/struts to FE5's that you can see an inch and a half drop in most occasions but from what I'm reading here I'm only gonna get about a half inch. I just wanna get a bit lower and eliminate some more wheel gap. Would it help if I posted some pics of my wells so maybe y'all can get a better idea of how it looks and maybe some options from there?
Front wheel gap:

Rear wheel gap:

Overall how high it sits:

From the last picture it shows 7" but I don't know of it was just the camera angle so let's say somewhere between 7 and 8 inches. It just don't seem low enough.

Drop in body height can only go so far. If you drop 3 more inches you will probably be close to having the wheel well sit on the tire and if not you will rub everything when you go over a bump and also have basically no give in your suspension
i have megans on stock fe1's and id love to go down maybe 1" or 1.25" inches more, i thought of just trying out spring clamps for a month or two then going to FE5 struts and takening them off because i amagine they would ride like HELL!
But regardless i might try it just to be the most dropped on springs.

Those aren't truck tires. They're factory still! Haha
I mean I know bigger wheels and tires would help get rid of some of that gap. Right now I'm looking at a set of 18x8.5's and that should help but as far as body height it seems like a lot of others are still sitting way lower then mine. Would a lip kit give the appearance of being lower without dropping it further?

1LowLS, do you have any pictures on cut springs? I'm on the mobile version and can't really check galleries and **** to see how it looks. I had thought about trimming them down a little but idk.
Only the fronts are cut.The rears ended up sagging a half inch lower.I cut alot out of the fronts to get the stance I wanted.Rides the same as before and handles the same as well.I'm on KYB GR-2 front struts and FE5 rear shocks.Springs are Ksport.

How hard was it?Not hard at all.Time consuming.I would cut half a coil at a time.So it was cut install cut install cut install.I lost track of how much I cut out,but I would assume about 2.5-3 coils.
and i know 1Low will agree with me here too, DO NOT CUT YOUR SPRINGS IF YOU DO NOT KNOW ABSOLUTELY SURE WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!! but if you go too low you'll start having rub issues and axle bind and they cause more issues themselves. by your pics the gap is less than what mine is and i'm sitting on eibach pro-kit

Ive been on them since life of the car which is 4 years.
