H&R Noise
Ok, so I just got off the phone with H&R.
They said its a common mistake but if the top hat is positioned incorrectly on low speed turns you will get spring binding up and making the infamous doink sound.
I'm gonna check mine asap and see if this is the case.
I feel studid.

The people at HR are clueless...they just repeat customer complaints I think...there is no way to mount the top hat any way but right...3 bolts, one facing forward...what I think is happening is the top urathane bushings are binding due to the lowered state and upon turning full lock, they are binding slightly and releasing causing the "doink" noise...I'm not sure this is something that can be fixed except maybe adding more grease between the two puck bearings...my 2 cents...
The doink noise is the spring binding up under turn and then releasing itself, thus the doink noise.
His only explanation is that the "upper hat is positioned incorrectly"
Now as msfitoy has so eloquently stated it doesn't add up, we installed everything
correctly so far as we know. The only option now is to have a dealership confirm that we reinstalled everything to factory spec.
The mystery continues.
I suspected that...mine's getting quieter too...I'm going to wait another month and I think it'll go away after the the two pucks have seated each other...
Hang in there gotwing...I think it'll go away...

Ok here is what "John" at H&R told me.

also, mine MAY have gone away when i switched to ss/tc struts...but i cant remember if it stopped before then...i believe it did though..
Yep, we made sure of that.
Alrighty, So i took the car into the local dealer to get an alignment, and I also had them check the install that misfitoy and I did. Well everything checked out, the install was all to spec, but of course my alignment was way out of whack. So thats all fixed.
I asked them to see if they could diagnose the doink sounds coming from the front, their
hypothesis is that it was the compressed coils rubbing together. Now I seem to remember that the eibach sportlines came with some sort of rubber liner between the coils to prevent this, but H&R's don't. Is that true about the eibachs?

Yes for 2 of them, each fits over one coil. I got 2 sets of 2, so 2 on each side in the rear. If I think they make a difference then I'll get some for the front. Also, my new endlinks arrived today.
Specifics buddy...way out of wack in a good or bad way? Negative camber is good...you sure were impressed with the turn in improvement...how is it now that they corrected thing?

Way out of wack in a bad way, it had too much toe, cambers was good. Still handles great, and looks great.
The Eibachs do come with a clear plastic tubing (which is thin and oiled) over the coils that will compress against each other when the full weight of the car is placed on them. I would simply go to Lowes or Home Depot and purchase some of the clear tubing and install it on the spring. Make sure you oil it so they slide over the coils.
nope cv joints hands down i had the same springs and same problem..this is my cv joints after

the drop is to low and the the springs are to soft...kills your axles
