Hawk Front Pads for TC
The stock ones are probably better than HPS, so unless your goal is to reduce dust with Hawk Ceramics, you won't find a performance gain. I'm running HPS in the back, and it's fine. Nothing to write home about.
Yeah..it was the dusting I was thinking about. Wondering if Hawks are about the same perf wise and just as quiet as stockers. I'm going to use them on the rear because they have the groove down the pad for clearing out debris.
I'm installing some HPS pads along with some R1 rotors this weekend hopefully. I can report back after I properly bed and break them in. I love the stock pads and wouldn't think twice about changing if it wasn't for the dust.
You may see me going back to stock pads or another pad if it doesn't work well. Hopefully the HPS can handle light track use.

suck at stopping when wet. have hawks in front with some semi metalics in rear, needing to redo them since its eather alot of grind in rear or car seems like it wont stop. other wise in autocross they did fine to me since i go into turns hot
Stockers bind well, but what the heck with the squealing? If I don't drive my SS/TC for 3 days, I have to deal with sounding like a dump truck howling to a stop.
If I drive ice cold with little breaking, I set the neighborhood dogs barking with the two sopranos hitting their notes from my front wheels. It seriously makes me want to pound the brakes hard several times just to heat them up to the point where they howl less.
I was thinking of going aftermarket just to reduce this - and I tried a little Disc Brake Quiet on the pads, but either I didn't do enough, or its the pads.
Am I the only one with the stock screaming pads?

I have the Hawk HPS pads in the front and rear of my 09 SS. They work great. They act very similar to the Brembo pads, but with a lot less dust. The Brembo pads would cover my wheels a week, the HPS pads put the same dust out in a month. When its cold out, like it has been today (18°F) they will squeak just a bit till they get some heat in them. When they are wet, at first they have little grab. Once the water is moved off the rotor, they work good. The Brembo's acted the same way when cold and wet. They work great with some heat in them, so in the winter they are a bit fun at first. I have not put my car on the track, so I can not tell you how they act there. I do know a race pad would be better, but my car is a daily driver, so I did not go with the race pad.
My rear brakes destroyed the inner pads and the rotors. This then caused the fronts to go, warped really bad. So I replaced all the pads with Hawk HPS and rotors from R1 Concepts. So far, not problems with them.
My factory front Brembo's would squeal every once in a while. Once I gave them a good hard hit, they would be good for about a week or so.
Last winter I had a problem with the brakes. I would hit the pedal, and it would go to the floor. This happened a few times. The dealership could not find anything wrong, bled the brakes and it still did it. Ok, I do live in a cold area and get snow, but that sucked. Now, I have not seen this problem all winter since I did the brake job.
I have had HPS pads on a few cars and my truck. On my truck, they were the best pads for it. They lasted 100k miles until I had a caliper stick. Very little dust on this also.

I'd say the stockers stop better, but they put out WAY too much brake dust. These aren't as strong, but give off almost no dust. Just gotta choose which you prefer. To me, these are a great replacement for stock. If you're gonna be doing some track days, I'd probably stick with stock. However these will be just fine for the street.
Ok..we have TWO here so far that have em on and vouch that they dust MUCH less. I don't track the car, so it looks like HPS all around for me.
.
The fu$$kn dust is really a pain for me
Appreciate the feedback.

Maybe I should do what was suggested in this thread and go bed them. Lets see if I can boil the brake fluid.... =p
Just posted this on another thread talking about DUST:
