HELP! Steering Messed Up!

So last week I was at work... I left my ex (whom still lives with my...fucked up situation...dont ask) the balt because she didn't go to work till after I had to. It had been snowin all day and my ******* didn't think about her knowledge in driving in snow.

Anyways, she hit curb....

Damage....
Driver/front steering and supension
Warped and scraped wheel
steering is ungodly screwed...

when I drove it home I noticed that i couldn't keep the car straight, it kept pulling either left or right.... the wheel was maybe turned 3 inches to the left and Iwas going straight.

I got home and pulled it into the garage, turned the heater on and waited for all the ice to melt off my car and then looked around... The passenger/front wheel was straight as it would normaly be, but the driver side was turned left slightly...

I need help because I jacked it up, looked under it and saw that the steering linkage, knuckles and all that where in tack, looked normal... I have no clue what it will be. I would like some really ood ideas before I have it towed off so maybe I can fix it myself and only have to worry about a new wheel and getting the alignement corrected

thanks ahead of time

Bump!

your toe is out. go and get an alignment done and they can also tell you while doing that if anything is bent that you can not see. and the alignment will fix the steering issue if nothing is truely bent.

If your steering wheel is 3" to the left when going straight **** is bent

Its most likely the tie rod got bent. it could be other things but yeah you need to get it checked out.

honestly its hard to tell if sumthing is bent unless its painfully obvious with out the use of an alignment machine...there are a number of things that could causethis after hitting a curb just hope ur alignment is out lol

we don't have a spindle. Try doing the control arm first, yours is all kinds of fuggered up

Also, i wasnt aware the NT555 was marketed as a snow tire...

its not....he said he didnt know that it was....it was sarcasm because he knows that the 555 is a summer only tire, and should have never been in the snow. If this is insurance related they may not pay..........

Those will turn to stone at anything below 50*. Defintely a very poor choice for cold weather let alone snow and ice.

Do you mean he bent his unit body? Unless he had a really old car or a pickup his vehicle had no frame. Bending a unit body from striking a curb must take a brutal impact to accomplish.

nailed it...just put a new FE5 arm on it and get it realigned

FYI those arms are only 150 at crateengine depot

Thanks guys!

I know they are not marked for winter or snow.... I just didn't catch the sarcasm and thought maybe he thought they were snow tires...lol

The 555's actually grip pretty well in the winter and this is my second winter with them on there. First winter was nothing but ice and I have never had the the money to put winter shoes on it.

I know I need to replace the control arm and I know it needs to be aligned after that.... but I had to take my ex to work today because she didn't have any other way there. The ESC flashed and the DIC says Service ESC... Is there a sensor somewhere in the suspension that needs to be replaced or is this something that will correct itself once everything is fixed?

your car is pissed at you because your toe is all fucked up, as well as your camber. You're essentially snowplowing that tire, and the ESC is fighting to figure out what's going on.

Don't drive it until you get it fixed.

The car knows its going straight with the wheel turned, so its figured out that something is broken.

Youre a more forgiving man than me.....My EX still lives with me(strike 1) my ex has to drive my car(strike 2) my ex crashes my car in the snow (strike 3) My ex makes me drive her to work (strike 4.....wait thats too many) That scenario just wouldnt have gone down out here, LOL. Hope you got reallllllly good reasons for letting this happen.
