Horizontal CAB install

The shop replaced my rear CABs, struts, and strut mount on my LSJ but it still rattled. So I bought some of the horizontal front CABs. I pulled off one of the control arms and was able to use the vice at an angle to press out the old mount. But when I try to press the new one in the it's too much of an angle for my vice and I don't want to hurt the bushing. I don't know how a shop would do this so I'm not sure what to try. The problem is the inner side has no clearence to grip on with a vice/press. It seems all CAB related threads on here are just about the round rear mounts, doesn't anyone do the front horizontal ones?

Sure, I have front CABs, but I have John's delrin ones, so putting them in was quite easy. We got the old ones out with a giant C clamp. I suspect you could get it on with one too. Lube it with soap and water, and make sure you angle the metal pin through the bushing correctly, so that you don't have to pre-tension the bushing when it's at rest on the ground.

Or just get John's delrin bushings and make life much easier

I actually got one of the new ones pressed in but the bulge wont pop out the other side. I had it pretty well lubed with lithium grease but I just dont think GM puts them in this way so I either need professional help or ditch this system. Where can I buy these delrin bushings??

OK thank you, sent her an email. I assume you are using the delrin bushings? I noticed that even with both oem bushings bolted in the control arms move all over the place with a pry bar. My guess is with a heavy load from the sway bar and hard turning those bushings are about as useful as screen doors on a submarine. So anything harder would be a big improvement to reduce travel!
