Question how low and stiff are you

i got my stance about a month ago and just slapped them on . Went as low as i could with out taking lock out rings loved the way it looked but rode like ass. Took the wheels off and noticed rubbing so decided i would raise it . After i did i noticed the adjustments where way off drivers right was 16 ( 16 being the stiffest and 1 being the softest on Stance coilovers) and the rear was 1 well I decided to read the manual and figure out how to adjust it . I set them all at 8 still had to much bounce stiffing up the back to 12 and left the front at 8 made difference but i wanted to know what 12 felt like all the way around (my current set up now) still got that bounce this time feels like the front . i am getting my rims painted this weekend and will have the car on jack stands so gives me time to mess with the adjustment again any suggestions would be great on your set up (dont have to be stance to have a opinion) first pic should be when i first had them put . again maxed out as low and not adjusted and rode like ass and the second one should be raised and adjusted at 12 all away around

do you mean bounce as like it pogo's and just keeps hoping over bumps and doesn't settle down? from what i've been hearing Stance seems to have a little too low of a spring rate in the rear so you may have to stiffen up the rear strut all the way if it's too soft for you. i'm on Megan Racing coilovers all the way down (lock rings still installed) with my settings at about 24/32 front and rear and it's not too bad, if anything that may be a little stiff

bounce as in pogo after a few bounces it stops until i hit another bump . buddy of mine told me to adjust the shock . mind you i am a noob and learning this on trial and error i raised the car by compressing the the spring but i am sure thats why it bounces since i am shorting the spring and not giving it room to compress

the stance coilovers have low rates in the rear... thats one problem.... the other problem is its a coilover... they will never ride good. meaning they will always have a harsh ride for the most part but you should be able to get it where its tolerable.

^ what he said, but it also sounds like you need to adjust the pre-load on the rear shock

u need to pre load the shocks in the rear

pretty much adjust the length of the shocks and the damper to your liking

bolt the top of the shocks and let hang from bottom, raise the axle from the center with a piece of wood between it

once the springs are in place that is the place to adjust the shock length to. this will also keep the springs in place when u raise the rear of the car

something like that haha

you need to adjust the shock length itself. everybody does it different but what i do is put the jack under the spring perch and jack the car up, support the frame with a jack stand, unbolt the rear shock, then fully droop the spring perch (undo jack). with that done you'll be able to see where the shock lines up to where it bolts on, when i did mine i had to shorten the shock up so that i had to jack the spring perch back up to be able to bolt it together (i don't remember the actual length i adjusted it to) but with that done the spring shouldn't want to "fall" out of the perch, the shock is holding everything up. so measure the length of the shock since it's now adjusted and do the same process on the opposite side to the exact same length.

with this done when you change the dampening it will have more of an effect and should "stiffen" up your ride

a buddy has ksports and if i follow him it's funny how much his car bounces around, especially in the rear that was 1 mistake ksport made, not having adjustable rear shocks

if you buy 800 dollar megan racing **** coilovers, ya, it will ride like ****. i have been in many many many cars that are on coilovers that ride better then my car did stock.

im on kw and the ride is a little rougher, but if you slam your car and have soft suspensions your going to be rubbing and bottoming out everywhere.

im sick of people slamming their car to the ground on coilovers and bitching about the rough ride....

I don't consider the cobalt a good riding car... I've been in cars with motions, ohlins, ast, Andes and they all ride stiff...does that mean sitting ride? No...just means its stiffer and you will feel it

my Megans ride fine, yea it can be a little rough at times (like expansion joints on these damn PA highways) but i don't see why everyone bashes the ride of them, and i've only ever adjusted the settings and pre-loads once too. they may not be quite the quality of KW's but they're just fine for me right now
