i lowered my cobalt with the SSC springs. i never touched the struts, cause at the time there weren't any available. (i dont know if there are now)

it was a mild drop (only 1 inch) and the stock struts were perfectly fine.

There are no full replacements fot the Cobalts yet. There are struts that you have to use stock parts on but I don't see the point in that. Why won't a company just put out a set of full replacements for Cobalts? I don't get it.

I have had Sportlines on for over a year and a half. The stock struts have held up so far but I can tell in about a year or so it will be time to change them. The ride is stiffer but I have no complaints in that department. Hope that helps.

i put ssc springs on my stock struts becuase there were, and still are, no good options for struts. i can tell that i will be needing some new ones pretty soon but i will most likely end up going w/ coilovers if now good complete struts are out by then.

i had my springs installed with koni struts...not because i was concerned with the stock struts dreaking down with the new springs (sportlines btw), but i wanted a stiffer suspension in general with adjustability....and this setup was a LOT cheaper than buying some coilovers

how can anyone say there are no good replacements??? get the Koni's man...the rear is a straight replacement, the front is an insert, but a shop can do it in about 15 minutes, that's how long it took on my Cavalier.

1000x better than any coilover IMO...I had those on my Cavalier before the Koni's...like nite and day!!!

im on h&r springs with stock struts. i bought the car this way. it rides ok, little bouncy over bumps for my liking. it also feels like it wants to oversteer when entering corners fast, but never kicks out or really tries, but it could just be the body roll im feeling.

i will be putting aftermarket struts in eventualy, just not sure what ill go with. looks like right now all we have is coilovers and konis. im not wanting coilovers cause its a daily driver. im not against konis, but there are better struts out there, im kinda waiting to see if bilstein comes out with anything, or if kyb makes AGXs

Factory struts do work pretty well, there is a large improvement with Konis over stock. I have the Koni's and Eibach sportlines.

i have my rear konis with a 180* turn firm, and my front konis at a 450* turn, and i tend to oversteer....a tad unusual for a FWD car the front end sticks to the road sooo damn well...i love it...i need to take out the rears and firm em up to match the fronts

Whoever said that ANY strut replacement is better than some name-brand coilovers is retarded haha. However, being as expensive as they are for our car, I may just end up going with the koni upgrades in the mid-near term.
*edit - in the mean time, I have been running sportlines on the stock struts, with no problems. Ride is slightly more harsh, speedbumps are killer, but all in all WAY worth it for the handling in the corners etc. Wouldn't go back to stock springs for anything. And the looks are killer too.

i would guess it has more to do with the $1000-$2000 price tag of coilovers...versus the $100-$250 for springs and the $300-600 for struts

I plan to to get sportlines to, but do i have to add back struts, cause i plan to get koni struts for the front..

Do i need the back.. if not, what is the advantage of the back??

Car had 10K didn't see a need to replace the struts. So just threw on my sportlines and it rode just fine. Did a alignment afterwards, and to my surprise didn't have to make any adjustments.

btw- How's Owensboro? I haven't been there in three years.

You will need Koni SHOCKS. The LS do not have struts in the rear it is a shock setup in the back. Fairly simple.
