i noticed there wasnt a strut in the back.. but what all would i need?? i want sportlines and would want to do everything at once since it would be taken apart.. shocks and struts i thought were the same?? a little confused..

technically, you need a shock...however, koni makes rear shocks. theyre listed as "Koni strut-front" and "koni strut-rear"

basically, koni still calls them rear struts, and does indeed sell them, even though it is a shock

no problem. i absolutely love it. i remember theres a road to my friends house i take all the time...kinda bendy. i used to start screeching the tires (continentals) at 55mph around the turns, when i went to my Nexen tires, i went about 70mph until my tires started screeching. Now that I have the tires and the springs and the struts, I've gone 95mph before they screeched (that was with a 180* turn in the firm direction, I currently run a 450* turn in the firm direction). It was amazing how much better i could handle the bends. also, its not like its a very uncomfortable ride either, and if you DO find it uncomfortable, then just twist the adjuster the other way and soften it up a bit.

my only complaint is my catback and mud flaps scrape the ground a little bit over certain shaped bumps (the D looking ones, opposed to the |) ones), but that will happen with the sportlines whether you change struts or not, since the struts don't lower ride height at all. It's nothing to worry about...definitely no damage is being done...its just a sound I don't like to hear.

i had a shop do the fronts..bout $120 for the install of the fronts. You have to cut apart the stock housing, and i didnt really feel comfortable doing it myself, especially since i lack the tools to do so. but the rear is a bolt in replacement, as are the springs.

I was also going to get the Pro-Kit springs I just need to know if the stock struts on my base model cobalt can handle them or will they just last a year and wear out.
In that case I'll just get the koni struts and do it all in one shot
Opinions anyone?

The stock struts WILL WEAR OUT, there is no time period for it, but eventually THEY WILL. Stock struts are simply not made for lowered applications...IMO there is no other way to do it, springs and struts at the same time or not at all.

I got some Eibachs then I waited about 2 months so I could get the Koni Struts.

I thought if I was going to lower it, I was gonna do it right.
