Installed KW2's on a 2008 SS/TC

I installed a set of KW2's a week ago. The car feels very good. I had a few issues trying to get the stud nut tight. Once that got done the car was riding good. I have had to work on a couple exhaust rattles that where caused by the car being lowered. Everything else seems to be going good now. I will be running the car at a road track this Sunday so I will see how it feels there.

Define "feels very good".

What other suspension mods you have and what kind of wheel/tires are you using? What is your alignments setting? What is your damper setting? Spring rate?

THe car is at the dealer waiting for rear brake pads to be shipped from Canada. That is what they told me yesterday. (Feels good) by that i mean the car has very little bounce to it. The car is much stiffer then it was. The car has very little lean in the corners. I tracked the car at Beaverun Sunday. I had also had the car there 2 weeks earlier. I felt the car handled the corners much better this week then the last time. There where several other cars in group 3 that i run with. I was able to either get by them or keep up much better with the coilovers on. Alot of guys run full race cars in this group. No interiors full cages, slicks and full race suspension. Cars like M3's 350Z's alot of different mustangs and porches stuff lke that. My car was running right with some of these full out race cars. I give the cobalt SS/TC all the credit for that. It is a car that has a great feel on the track. I just ordered front and rear pads from cobalt friction. They say they have the correct race pads for our cars. I also just got the new end links and SS brake lines for the car. When I get it back i will get some pictures out. I run Nitto nt01 tires at the track on stock rims. I run the stock tires daily on rims i got from tire rack.
I also have a 2006 c6 with twin turbos, big brakes,Z06 built trans, rearend, bilstien shocks you name it. The car makes 630rwhp and 650 rwt. It is at piper motorsports in va getting a roll bar and harnesse in it. That being said the car I am using the most at the track now days is the cobalt. To me it is alot funner to drive on this track. It has alot to do with a 1.6 mile road course with 12 turns and plenty of elevation changes.

I also instructed a student on Sunday at the track with a 2006 cobalt SS. She had done some work to that car as well. The car had alot more lean in the corners and did not seem to handle as well overall.

Tis your student speaking

Yes, I will attest, you car handled great! It should wipe the track with mine from a handling standpoint.....mine (aside from the rear bar and strut brace I told you about) is EXACTLY as it rolled off of the assembly line with no upgrades to the suspension (and no diff) and regular tires.

I'm still trying to figure out what I want to go with suspension wise. Almost has to be coilovers, but I'd like to be able to adjust the dampening as well. I have the corner weight numbers on my car, would love to fine tune a setup for that track.

Hopefully next time I'll have my stickies ready to go and whatever the brake issue was resolved. That's a puzzler for me, I've run the same setup for 3 seasons up there (this is my 2nd set of rotors and HPS pads)......I have NEVER had brake fade like that before. I've noticed it on the street as well. Something about THIS match up of pads and rotors is not wanting to bed in properly. Every other track day the stopping power on the Hawks was like the first session was Sunday where I could late brake into 1 and have insane amounts of stopping power.

Hey, good to hear from you, I had a good time riding with you sunday
I still cannot figure out your brake issue. It should have gotten worse as we went but the third session you had less issues with them.
i hope to see you again at the track!

Thanks! It was nice finally having someone who knows something about Cobalts to ride along, I got a lot more helpful insight than I have in many sessions there!

The brake issue has me baffled too. I've run this setup before with good results. I used the right bedding procedure.....I'm thinking there's some contamination on the pads and/or rotors. Also going to replace the SS lines on the car and try a new fluid as well.

Goofy as all hell, I've NEVER had that issue before.

Are you using stock roll bars? What is your damper setting? and how did you come up with it? What is your alignment setting?

Thx.
