ION RL VS 2.4L SS suspension
#27
Did you not read anything I typed?
All I was trying to say was that two cars having the same RPO code means it has that particular suspension level, the content of that RPO changed car to car year to year.
Look at 98-02 Camaro SS's even though the 98 SS had the same suspension RPO codes as 02 SS's they didn't have the same components. The later SS's had the same springs as Z28's but the RPO never changed.
I am sure that the control arms, and other things maybe identical between your car and a RedLine I would bet money that the spring rates, shocks or struts or sway bars may be different.
As for the GM guy's info there is a difference between being a liar and being mis-informed.

Well, today at one of the GM dealerships I work at ( for Autotrader) we were going to look up 2.4SS and ION Redline suspension part numbers but ran out of time. I will continue to pursue this to get an answer (ia m at at least 1 GM dealership a day).
BTW, I asked two knowledgable salesmen (not your average one) and 2 mechanics at GM about this, and they all thought that if an RPO Code is used in the same year by the same platform (delta chassis) then it represents the same parts. Something about ordering parts makes this mandated, I don't really know what they were talking about.
