Just a question
I'm fairly new to the site and have been reading your posts I appreciate your level of knowledge and will be investing in some shims for my steering rack cause I am running sportline springs with eibach sway bars and bwoody adjustable endlinks and I thought I was feeling a lil weird input and my buddy whos a land rover jag tech even drove the car hard and couldn't understand what I was bitching about cause he thought it handles ten fold better than his mazda 3. Just curious if you have an idea how much I need to space to get it proper or at least ball park if not no worries I can expiriment. also I have an LSJ in my garage waiting on a cometic head gasket head studs and some other small stuff but I need to find a good turbo manifold for my car I don't like the cheap log style manifolds that are out there and I feel a stock lnf might not bolt up or flow as well as another. I saw you worked on the time attack cobalt that's awesome I love the color scheme wish it was mine! I really want a clean front lip or splitter too like what you guys probably made custom.

Just like the log turbo manifold, its best to do things right, although as you see Maven on this web site beating on folk, when it comes to steering and brakes, wheels and tires your life depends on doing the job right...its not so bad when the motor gives up, but when you lose steering or brakes you can get killed...thanks for your post and good luck with your LSJ turbo project, 06blackg85SS i think that is his forum name, is an expert on those monster motors...

Can you see my boner from where you are?
Look north...the TQ steer is insane...
sweet deal BUMP for exceptional expert knowledge most people don't know **** about their cars on here accept they want the stage 12 kit with twin turbos and nos. it's funny as hell I was going through some posts and someone started a thread saying how they were going to build there 2.2 cobalt and twin turbo it LMFAO
(to push brake pedal while i bleed brakes
)
Don't think so, the rack spacer is to correct/compensate for the tie rod angle in a lowered suspension.
However, the question I posted on other thread is if the spacer thickness varies depends on how much the car is being lowered. Does either qwik or Mav have that info?

Lowered or not bump steer spacers can be effective, rasing the rack a certain amount acts to raise the inner tie rod ends in an attempt to get the tie rod assemble to be parallel to the control arm.(there are multiple points at which zero bump steer{our goal} can occur and you could also create spacers for th outer tie rods if you were so inclined, but shimming the rack is a more elegant and easier solution )

************...one week you tell me not to because it will hurt handling, the next you tell me to do it.
I have a set of FE3 springs, and someone who needs stock springs and will sell me sportlines for 100 bucks, that is TWO spring changes.
And then I would need to spend monies on these spacers, because if the torque steer gets worse...

1. dropping your car makes it look better. IMHO the eibachs also improve the handling. BUT your car is awesome the way it is.
2. as awesome as it is, it still qualifies as a Monster truck its so high off the ground.
3. DROP IT.
4. Put spacers in the rack.
5. Sell your FE3 springs to some unsuspecting forum guy.
6. Keep your giraffe springs for when you sell the car
7. sounds like you need to get 4 cases of beer.
8. what spacer? did we have two? pass me a beer. I got one spacer; wheres the other one
9. More beer.
steddy on fella bad language here.

And more beer is always the answer!

theoretically yes one size does not fit all, but practically with stock cars one size spacer covers the ground pretty much okay...if it didnt i venture to guess most folks couldnt tell the difference; the improvement over stock is a good one, and fine tuning it to + or - a few thousandths of toe change isnt worth the effort on street cars with folks who check tire pressures once a month maybe....
