lower control arm question
lower control arm question
I have a 2006 Pursuit GT with the 2.4L so it comes with fe3 suspension? crate engine depot has fe5 lower control arms for sale, I was wondering waht the difference is and if they will fit, they look like they will fit. I figure my ball joints are on the way out the door adn you cant get replacement ball joints with out the control arm. thanks for the help

if you look on the crate engine depot site, they have "suspension facts"
I believe the SS and the SS/SC have the same control arms. The site says that the FE1 (LS, LT, LTZ) suspension has steel lower control arms, and the FE3 and FE5 suspensions have alluminum lower control arms.
but I have a question, would there be an advantage to me switching from the steel control arms to the alluminum control arms? I have the base LS, I am doing the whole suspension over, but I figure the steel control arms ought to be stronger, and I am trying to reduce weight, but I dont think going to alluminum control arms will do much.

The FE5 control arms will bolt into any Cobalt or G5 and they are stronger than the steel ones. Theyve also got a stiffer bushing in them so they will change the way a base car rides/handles a bit.
Huge improvement in the FE5 arms versus the stamped steel ones. Stamped steel is WEAK.
