mixed info on struts
mixed info on struts
ok throughout the years on diffrent fourms, i've gathered all sorts of info of diffrent cars, now when it comes to struts..on the j body site they say they need new, aftermarket struts to lower, on aleromod..they said its nice, but not nessicary for a smaller (1.5 or less) drop...so whats the deal with cobalts, are they nessicary? who makes options for us?
if you have the SS/SC they are not completely neccessary, plenty of people are driving around without them. but your struts will not last as long (probably 70-75% regular life)
if you have an NA SS (?), but if you have a bas or ls (looking at 40-50%)
thats if you plan on going with Sportlines which are more then 1.5" drop.
personally I think you should always change to better stuts when you lower your car.
the car will feel and react much better that way.

Well i can tell you that i have an ss/sc and i have H&R sport springs. I wish i had new struts, cause they bottom out alot. So i cant wait until someone comes out with stuts for this car.

Dude i know what you mean, i mean this is expected. But it be nice if koni hurries up cuz i'm getting a lil tired of hearing my exhaust hit against the torsion beam on bumps.
I hear you, everytime i hit i bump the tires bottom out in the wheel well and drives me nuts. I am not sure if i want to wait for koni to come out with the stuts or just go back to stock. But i love the way the car looks on these springs.
the thing is i drove a lowered ss on sportlines and was very impressed on how it drove, my 02 cav with struts was all over with place bouncin like a 5 dollar *****, my buds car was a tad more bouncy that stock but it was very acceptable, i took it on the road where i work and the roads there are a tad bumpy, just a test to see waht id be dealing with on a day to day basis, and to my surpirse my head wasnt hitting the sunroof, so i went and oredered them, when the time comes to get struts i will but other than that it was a pretty decent ride.
