Mushy Brake Pedal

2006 SS 2.4l

I noticed for a while my brake pedal was getting kinda mushy but I chalked that up to the pads getting near the end of their life. 32k miles on the car with original brakes. The front rotors had a *lot* of ridges in them (but I'm told this is normal) and after having them turned twice I just couldn't get the warp vibration out...so I decided when it was time to change the pads I'd get new rotors.

Last week the sensors started squeaking at me so it was time to do it. Yesterday we replaced front and rear brake pads (auto zone whatevers), put a set of Brembo blank rotors on the front axle, then drained and filled the brake fluid.

The brake pedal is even more mushy than before and I am pretty frustrated with it. I don't remember it being this way when I bought the car but that was 4 years ago and it sat in storage for 2 years so my memory could be off. I can't imagine how air could have gotten into the lines but anything is possible, I guess.

Do our cars have mushy brakes, do I need to wait a while to break the new parts in, or can/should something be done?

Thank you

You need to bleed your brakes...mine went mushy after i changed my pads/rotors as well. If that doesn't cut it than look into braided brake lines.

How did you drain and fill the brake fluid? As Stiner mwentioned it definitely sounds likes the forst thing you need to do is a proper bleeding of the system
