Need brake help

I recently replaced my brakes with some ceramic ones and they have squeaked like a sob since day 1. Realllllly annoying. What kinda pads are you guys buying that have a moderate lifespan and DO NOT SQUEAK. Thanks guys.

Hawk HPS are awesome. They are quiet, bite really hard and produce very little dust. They should last a long time also unless you have slotted rotors. Ceramic pads just can't compare with an aggressive street pad like the HPS's. EBC Reds are apparently pretty good also, but I have no experience with them.

I just bought a pair of Hawk HPS and R1 Concept's Slotted and Cross-Drilled... And there making just as much noise as my stock ones. I greased them up and everything.

I was hoping to find a solution to this problem... since this "was" suppose to be the solution to the problem.

  1. Did you properly bed the pads?
  2. Have you tried a number of hard stops when rotors up to temp to clean any glazing, build-up, etc.?

My pads/rotors are quiet beyond belief. No squealing, no grinding, nothing. I had something on the pad the other day that caused a squeak, did 3 good stops from 50mph to 0 and it's gone.

I did bed them properly, but I have yet to give them and serious 50mph to 0mph hard stops. I'll probably do that tomorrow and see if it solves my problem.

Critical question here:

Did you replace or resurface your rotors?? Or just try and throw new pads on old rotors??

I gave it some hard stops this morning and it it seemed to fix the problem for a few hours, but then it started all over again. So I went to my friend at his shop and he told me that I needed to break the rotors in or just keep hard stopping until I break them in.

read this my friend. did you bed the pads and rotors that way? 10 hard brakes from 60 to 10 NOT stopping or letting the brakes cool down.

then let them cool. and do it again.

im not sure if this will help once youve already bedded the pads and rotors.

The general idea behind the bedding process is to transfer pad to the rotor so you're not braking raw metal on pad which leads to squealing. Even still, if this is done properly you do need to do hard stops from time to time to keep the build-up fresh AND avoid glazing your pads over.

If the OP goes out now and does the bed-in process to the T the pad should still take to the rotor though if it's dirty cleaning it up and re-doing it might not be a bad idea (and by cleaning I mean remove each rotor, brake cleaner for each, re-install, go bed them in).

I have a question, and it's probably stupid because I think I know the answer. I just hope I'm wrong. I put slotted/drilled rotors and ceramic pads on my 07 SS/NA sedan. Seemed to work good for over a year. Even made several long trips, including a 2,200 mile expedition accross the country. My wife usually drives the car. Recently I got to drive it and I noticed a vibration in the peddle as if the rotor had warped. I believe it is the front right wheel, because of the direction the steering wheel pulls when I used the brakes. The brakes were broken in properly. Do you think my wife managed to find a way to warp slotted/drilled rotors?
