In need of help with my brakes!!

Ok so here is my problem. I bought some brakes from a member off of ebay for my 06 cobalt ss/sc. Its all 4 rotors(cross drilled and slotted) with pads. So anyhow, i got the dealer to install them and I followed the break in period (except for the 800 mile break in period. Im only at 100). The brakes are making a howling/slight squeeking noice. Im just wondering if its because of where they aren't broken in yet, or if its because they are slotted and drilled.

The dealer to me its because of where the pads are always on the rotor, and where they are slotted/drilled, and teh air gets in the slots, thats whats making the noice.

Any information or comments, please post.

Thanks in advance.

Bump

I have slotted and drilled rotors, its not noticable under light braking, however under hard braking the brakes are quite a bit louder than stock..but they brake great!

noise, the word is noise. You will only notice it when driving the car, because thats generally the only time you use your brakes.

LOL...Thats not what i meant. What I mean is that you can hear it as your driving the car without applying the brakes..... You can hear it all the time when your driving down the highway.

My dimpled and slotted rotors on my LS make some noise too, hard to explain the noise though

My experience is that noise is typically caused by cheap crappy pads.

not true at all. i had ebc pads, and they were just as quiet as stock. now i have hawk hps pads, and they are noisy. noise is not determined at ALL by the price, it's determined by the material they're made of. i spent a few hundred upgrading my brakes and rotors, and they're pretty loud. i got rotors and brakes for my gf for $104, and they are quiet as stock. jsut because the brakes are noisy doesn't mean they're crap

Very true, I kind of jumped the gun on that. I read "Ebay brakes" and the opinion of quality immediately hit the *******. Didnt pay enough attention to see he got them from a person not an ebay store.

Those rotors will make a noise from the air being passed over them, its normal.
