Invest in a set of FE5 struts and shocks. I replaced them along with the sportlines and Progessive rear bar on mine. Also dont forget to get an alignment but let the springs settle for a week or so.

 

are the FE5 struts off the ss?

 

Yes the SS/SC has the FE5 suspension, SS 2.4/Cobalt Sport has the FE3, all the 2.2's have the FE1.

 

After I put mine on, there was zero body roll going around slow turns. After riding in another cobalt without it, you could see and feel the difference.

It distributes the force to both sides of the rear, making it corner flatter.

 

BEFORE:

front height, ground to wheel well: 27"
rear height, ground to wheel well: 27.5"

AFTER:

front height, ground to wheel well: 25.5"
rear height, ground to wheel well: 25.75"

RESULTS:

front drop: 1.5"
rear drop: 1.75"
cornering: EXCELLENT!
bumps/dips/potholes: EXCELLENT!

it seems that i can feel a little more of the road, ie bumps and rough road. but i love the handling now, so much better. i dont have to lean into the turns anymore!

So it's ok to put the progressive bar without front tie brace?? I'm debating if I should get the Suspension techniques sway bar kit or just the progressive rear sway bar with DC sports strut bar. So far I'm convinced with the Suspension techniques but it still bothers me about installing the front sway bar though..

 

ive never looked into how to install a front sway bar.. is it difficult?

 

They told me that I need to lower the "sub frame"? in able to install the front. Some said it's easy if you know what you're doing and it'll be a pain if you don't.

So far how's your progress rear sway and DC sport doing?? Did it make a huge difference??

i researched a little bit... everyone's saying either the ss/sc front anti-sway is the biggest or equal to st's anti-sway..

and i guess its a bitch to get on... i mean, with my mods, im alright but i dont auto-x so..

Me neither I'm not planning to autoX besides, my 2.2 is not made for autoXing anyway but I wanted to have a good handling for my everyday driving. Maybe I'll just do your set up instead.

 

my handling is awesome. but i only have the stock setup to compare it to.

 

I have the exact same suspension setup on my 2.4SS. The strut bar didn't really seem to make much of a difference, but the springs and sway bar definitely helped tie it all together and make it a good handling car.

 

I read that you need a front sway bar first before getting the rear or is it the other way around??

 

You can do the rear sway first, just have to be aware that the car will be looser (back end will spin around easier than before). This should not really be an issue on dry pavement. When its wet, you can't try and take corrners super fast. In snow, the rear has a tendancy of wandering during turns, but is certaintly manageable. Still way better than my 2 wheel drive pickup ever was in the snow.

Our cars because of the 60/40 weight distrubution, push in stock form.

 

I see.. I asked because I read on the "suspension basics 101" on the anti roll section that you need a front sway first before putting rear. And it's best to buy the front and rear sway kit.

And about the car being loose, in short, the car has a tendency to spin if making a fast turns on a wet or snow weather?? Sorry still a bit new in the suspension except springs and shocks.

 

The Eibach kit is not available yet. I checked today.
