NEW Question about the strut tower brace...

So, I have the DC Sports Strut Tower Brace that I had in my 05 Basebalt.

I THOUGHT these braces were the same for all models on both 05 and 06's.

Is this not the case?
I tried for a good hour and could not get the damn thing to fit.
I removed all of the nuts from the strut towers, jacked the car up on both sides (Not at the same time) and was still unable to get it to fit. I finally just gave up.
When I installed it in my 05 it took literally 15 minutes.

So is there any good reason why it wont fit? Does the fact it was on another car have any effect on the part its self? Do I in fact have to buy a new one?

Thanks in advance!

It should fit. Mine was a real SOB to get on too and I have an 05 SS/SC. You just have to work with it, I finally had to do some "convincing" with a mallet to get it over the bolts on the p***enger side. I don't really recommend that though as you could very easily snap a bolt off.

Yeah, I kind of wanted to avoid any forcing if at all possible. I am actually having trouble getting the driver side in place, which consequently is also not allowing me to get the brace into position over the p***enger side bolts.

Its rather frustraiting actually, because I cant see any point that it is hung up on anything, it just simply dosent want to go...

This might be a dumb question, but you're absolutely sure you've got the bolt below the windshield completely out of the way, right? That was my problem for a while on the driver's side, but once I made sure that was out of the way I was fine.

Hmmm... Maybe not so dumb after all, I am unsure of which bolt you speak. Might there be something in my way that I cant see?
I remember sliding it over okay (The brace), just had to manuver around some wires, but then it just stopped and wouldnt go any farther. I didnt SEE a bolt that might of been catching it, is it fairly obvious?

Yep, it's under the black rubber thing right in front of the windshield. I'd take a pic of mine but the brace is in the way. It's kinda right in front of the driver. It's the only thing sticking down on that side. Sounds like that might be your problem.

all you have to do is give it some convincing. i removed all bolts to install. left car on the ground. slid on the drivers side then slid over the p***engers side. it wouldnt slide down all the way so i used a mallot and it slid right down. torqued the nuts and all is well.

Well, thanks to Alleycat pointing out where that damn bolt is, I was able to get it in place.
It took a little "Convincing" but I got it on. Didnt have that bolt to deal with on the BaseBalt. Little F'er was tight too! I didnt have the right size socket or wrench to loosen it, so I ended up using a small pair of vice grips.
That did the trick.
Anyhow, the front end is tighter and it feels good.

So thanks again!

Glad I could help . Yeah, it took me a while to figure out where that damn bolt was and I scratched the crap out of my brace, but no one can see the scratch so I could care less.

I got mine brace on with out removing that bolt. I was pushing on the passenger end and a friend was pulling the driver side. It slid on pretty easily. The brace is scratched from the bolt tho.

I too have some nasty scratches from before I knew the bolt was there.
it was embarrising how easily it slid over once the bolt was out of the way though.

I'm surprised they let you return it. Are they sending a new one?

Ya be VERY careful torquing those top strut bolts down they are VERY VERY easy to break. Broke 2 of them with my air ratchet doing my springs install, easy to replace but a bitch none the less.

I installed my DC bar yesterday and didnt have to deal with any bolt that was mentioned in the directions. The directions were for an 05 and i have an 06 but the concept was still the same and the bar fit fine

I also have an 06 and DID have the bolt. I dont think the base models have them, which is probably why the first time I installed it, it was a piece of cake.

I just installed my DC Sport Strut Tower Bar...some what pain in the ass. I followed the instructions to a tee, jacked it up, took out the bolts, but the top part of the bar on the passenger side was literally 1/8" away from slipping over the bolt. So I had to drill that hole a little bit bigger, and it went in.
