New Shocks and Springs... Still making BANGING noises...

2010 Cobalt SS
Had the rear axle replaced last year. It was bent, and hard to control the car in wet/snowy conditions.
Started having Banging Noises.
I figured it was the shocks. I saved up and bought the Shock/Spring package from CED.
I put the rear shocks and springs on, and I STILL have the BANGING noises.

Is there a bushing to replace back there? It sounds as if something is hitting like I have no shocks at all. The only other thing I can think of are the insulators that sit on the spring mounts.
This video,
, said they are no big deal, and my car only had the top insulators. The top insulators were pretty beat up, and not holding anything, so I left them out. Can they make that big of a difference?

The bottom insulators look to cost about $10 apiece. The top looks like it only comes with a new mount. Am I looking at this correctly?

Thanks for reading and replying.

It's possible it could be your noise. Crate Engine Depo has replacement rubbers for the top spring mounts that replace the cheap foam,

Rear Upper Spring Insulator CED2797

$10 each like the lower, so $40 will get you new rubber on both top and bottom.

Edit: The lower seats are actually only $4 each, so $30 instead of $40.

Oh Geeze.

You need the isolators. Of course you hear a noise, it's metal on metal.

Actually, without the insulators, they sit on plastic mounts.

The insulator for the top only comes with a new mount. For the bottom CED appears to get a rubber disc made.

I got them both, and installed them.
It's better, but still crashes noisily over bumps.

What else is there back there?

You can check the bushings and see if they're shot or not. Also could be exhaust hitting somewhere?

I'll just share a few things I fixed that were causing banging noises:

1. Twising beam bushings. One of mine had some serious play, see the first link (with video) below. I replaced mine with Powells.
2. Your exhaust may be hitting the top of the twising beam. I have the Hahn catback that is notorious for that.
3. You rear springs binding could make a similar noise. I have wrapped mine (YYZ3's) in wiring sleeves and it fixed it. See the second link.

what kind of noise is it ? can you get a video ?

What springs do you have on there ? Is it over tiny bumps / cracks in the road ?

could be coil slap. CED has a solution for that as well.
