ottp vs powell spherical bushing

After few hours to search here trying to find what's the difference between

powell and ottp control arm bushings
powell and ottp derlin bushings

from what I read powell produce those parts for ottp

OTTP Spherical Control Arm Bushings

OTTP Delrin Leading CA Bushing

but according to this thread

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/gene...powell-296456/

powell sold them twice the price of ottp so it must be a difference between the those product even if they are both produce by powell

Powell used to make them for OTTP a long time ago, not anymore. Buy powell mounts they are a very high quality part. OTTPs are now just a Powell knock off

Powell, for everything suspension related. His prices are outrageous, but it's worth it.

I have both of Powells bushings and I can say it'd definitely worth it, OTTP pretty much coppied Powells design as cheap as possible so expect slightly lower quality but same (or very close to it) initial performance, but Powell stands behind his products, is a great guy and vendor. Really it should come down to more than price but I actually know John Powell (and would consider him a friend) so I'm going to be opinionated.

Just curious; has anyone ever bought PRP and OTTP sets to compare them; or are we all just making assumptions wildly?

i think its more assumptions than anything.

I know the trans mounts have been compared and beaten to death. For the bushings i highly doubt it.

There are pics out there that you can use to compare but thats as far as anyone has gone.

Im pretty sure ever since the fall out with JP and OTTP, OTTP has been doing his own thing and not copying JP parts.

There is no comparison to powell's bushings. The price for his bushing is reflected in the quality and material. The ottp are cheap replacements for a reason, you get what you pay for. My ottp busing was torn only a couple months of use, where as the powell bushings I've had for over a year look new.

As far as I know no one here has compared them. I have and I have sold both kinds. Lets start with the delrin cabs.

The powell units used to be made from 1018 steel. Because of this they rusted and were noisy. They have since switched to an unknown stainless steel, most likely 303 as it is cheap and readily available. These are fastened to the vehicle with the stock clam shell if you can call it that. They have always been sold as a summer only joint, not weather proof.

The OTTP unit has always been made from stainless steel. The type is 17-4 PH. It is very expensive but it is the right choice for the joint. Almost all stainless rod ends use this material. It is almost 2 times stronger than 303 stainless. The delrin sleeves we use are machined with a spiral groove to hold grease in the joint. They also have a groove cut in the out side of them and an oring installed to make them weather proof. We hold the joint together with a stainless washer and a snap ring on both sides. We also leave a little space between the 2 delrin sleeves so the control arm can be drilled and a zerk fitting can be installed.

The spherical cabs are very similar. Both use an aluminum sleeve to hold a factory weather sealed joint. The powell design sleeve is thicker than the control arm and tapers to the joint making it hard to press into a control arm straight. Our design is flat on both sides and one side has a slightly smaller diameter to get the bushing pressed in nice and easy.

To finish this off. We don't use cheap materials or cheap machine work. Everything is made in the USA from USA materials.

With almost everything we make they are a lifetime warranty. If you can break them we just need the parts back to repair or replace.

To make it easier we do sell a brand new set of arms with the bushings installed already.
