Pedders for 2009ss Question Bump Stops

I'm putting these on my 09SS/TC with stock shocks. Do I leave the BUMP STOPS alone or cut them? If so how much F/R?
Thanks

Don't cut them. Its a close fit, but they should not bottom out.

You DO need to cut them for Pedders coilovers though. About an inch, basically just the dome.

This is my experience from helping install both on an S/C and T/C.

i was told to cut them by the pres of our car club because he said if i ever bottomed out i would hear a nasty clunk.

if you ever plan on running a 235/40/18 or wider in the rear do not cut the rear. it will rub the inner fender well. Its will cut the side of the tire like string cheese.

I cut the fronts in half and just the round nub (~1/2") off the rear. I tried leaving them uncut at first, but the ride was too harsh from lack of travel.

Better to do it now than have to go back in (in front). Some here advised not to cut, but I don't think 1/2" in front would be a problem at all. As far as the rear..I would find it hard to imagine hitting them even not cut with only 1" lowered, but taking the nub off is no big deal there either. The Pedders are being installed right now!

Tell me why 1/2" more shock travel (potential..won't happen very often!) will stress the struts? It will not. Don't forget, these springs are STIFFER than stock as well...no? BTW 1/2" off the front is very modest. Some here have cut'em in HALF!
I'll leave the rears alone.
Thanks for the input.

I see people with older shocks having issues as there is more sagg and therefore an increased chance of bottoming out. I just put the pedders on a month ago and didnt cut anything. Ive hit some pretty unavoidable harsh bumps on city streets and havent had any issues.

I can see the merrits to both methods though.

i guess us bigger tire guys know whats up!! but he still didnt listen to us...

ronn now you cannot run 235's in the rear without shredding the side of your tires, and that little nub you cut off $86 ea from the dealer i would have swapped with you!!! i only cut the "nub" off mine and now my tires hate me..

the main time mine rub is when im on the freeway and hit big dips doing ohh 100+ mph which i find myself doing quite often.

put some weight in the trunk and maybe a pass or two... and uhh well lets just say i had to put footballs in my rear springs to act like air bags it was so bad.

I'm the one with the coilovers they were talking about.

I trimmed a bit off the top off of mine. I've only bottomed once, and that was when I went over some bad railroad tracks with the softest possible dampening setting (was testing out what it was like and found out ).

Glad you like the Pedders!

IF you guys are hitting bumps that bottom the car out, the least of your worries is going to be the bumpstops.

I didnt cut mine, haven't bottomed out yet. I try to avoid massive potholes that will swallow my car haha.

First off I'm not going to use 235s no need to and they will slow you down acceleration wise. Second I KNOW those won't bottom enough to rub 235's . The pedders only dropped the rear about 3/4" and they're also STIFFER. BTW, the BEST way to solve that *problem*( if you have it?) is to get a wheel with the proper OFFSET which would move he tires INBOARD enough to escape rubbing against the fender lip.
