Pedders on ls sedan
Pedders on ls sedan
Was thinking about buying pedders for my 06 ls sedan. Would I also need to buy new struts? I heard the as/tc struts are better the the ls ones? I think there is a package with struts and pedders together will that work for my sedan? Any information would be helpfull. Also with new struts and pedders what would the ride be like compared to how I am now on stock everything?
yes id get new struts. i heard the ride is AMAZING! there are a few threads

with pedders you wouldnt need to get new shocks and struts because they won't lower you all that much, i'm on eibach pros with original shocks and struts with no issues so far. and yes the SS/TC suspension is better then the LS including shocks and struts. i believe CED has the pedders package with the SS/TC shocks and struts for about $500/$600 but don't quote me on that

well im on Megans on stock struts and the ride is great until you hit a pothole.... then you want back surgury, they would be perfect if I didnt live in Massachusetts. But i think if i got new FE5 struts it would help alot.
The thing is I dont think i would be anywhere near satisfied with the drop that pedders give, Megans are PERFECT.

the pedders will lower about the same as my eibach pro's, maybe a touch less but if you're going for ride quality definitely get the pedders.
this is a pic lowered with stock size tires...

and this is lowered with 205/60/R15 goodyear eagle gt's...

personally i'm looking to maybe get coilovers this year but i really can't complain about my set-up now, a fairly smooth ride but it doesn't lower all that much

I switched to the FE5 suspension when I had both a shock and strut start leaking. Im still on stock springs, but should be ordering pedders as soon as my tax return arrives within the next week. Hoping the shipping doesnt take a whole month...
pedders and FE5 shocks/struts is the best combo you can get for handling... all of the coilovers that are available under about 2k have horrible spring rates and shitty valving from what ive seen... if you want MOAR low its fine but FE5 and pedders is where its at for handling... also, pretty much anything other than an 18" looks silly on these cars...
Pedders can take awhile to ship. They get snapped up very quickly when vendors have them, and it then takes time for more to be sent over from Australia.
You will usually see the vendors all posting up when they get them in stock again, so if you don't like waiting for shipping don't order unless you check ahead that they have them.

For the money they work. I put Konis on in the rear and now I understand what underdamped feels like. It especially noticeable if you have a Powell rear sway, the FE5s cant handle it, the car will feel like its wiggling. Tomorrow I put in my Koni struts, cant wait. But expect to spend $600 on just the Konis

Is this an example of underdamped struts/shocks (stock) for the drop springs i have?
I'm not familiar with megans spring rate but its probably stiffer than the FE1 springs. The issue with a stiffer spring on a shock not properly matched with it is, in the case of the FE5 Pedders combo, the shock doesn't have enough rebound stiffness. High rate springs have more potential energy when theyre compressed so they want to extend quickly and a shock with relatively low rebound stiffness doesn't control the high energy springs well. The result is a bouncy ride
