Powell rear sway bar

I have a Powell rear sway bar I'm planning on installing and was wondering if anyone knew the correct "bolts" needed as I do not have them... I searched around with no luck on how to install the sway bar either but I'm sure I can figure it out as I've done others.. I have the "hardcore series" sway bar

Thanks for the help in advance

Do you have the brackets? If so go to a parts store and buy, grade 8 or 10 bolts, if not then get new brackets and bolts from Powell.

Knowing powell he's probably not using cheap "Grade 8" bolts from HD.

The right hardware isn't cheap... but you don't have to worry about it snapping either.

Yeah exactly. I'll probably bite the bullet soon and order the hardware from Powell. I'm having a hard time trying to find it anywhere else.

the ones i got with my car arent stainless and rusted in no time. when your buying bolts in big bulk like im sure he does you can usually get them for a dollar or two.

best advice I can give you if you dont want to get them from us is go to Fastenal and buy automotive 10.9 cad plated fasteners. they are not cheap. 60 mm long

get some large washers if you dont want to spread the load with nut plates. and mechanical lock nuts, you cant get the same result with a nyloc.

stainless is a grade 5 strength and will snap if you torque to 55 ft lbs. so not a good move.
10.9 and proper torque with rust prevention ( all our stuff is shipped with moly anti seize on the hardware.) and you can buy the hardware cad plated for about 1.25 each plus shipping. so save ten dollars and buy inferior stuff, or go do the hardslogging and visit fastenal and make your own nut plates. OP if you are stuck let me know.

and for the record we replace hardware free if the original owner has a problem with corrosion. We do follow a continuous improvement process and the stuff we make now is a lot different even the nut plates have changed, and you can see that as the copied stuff does not improve or is just wrong.

its an accepted fact in many places, for example, that stainless hardware is equivalent to grade 8 ; that is just not so. We strain gauge and test stuff, and the hardware tests are easy. We did try stainless at one point because, as Kzak104 points out, corrosion is a big issue. The stainless stuff doesnt corrode , it just breaks. The nuts do corrode as well, the nut plates are not stainless. Thats why we went to cad plated 10.9 hardware, powdercoated nut plates and antiseize applied to fasteners.

Stainless bolts are nice for bolting low torque parts up but if you even slightly over torque them they will stretch and fail down the road
