Question for 2.2s with Pro Kit

Just had a quick question for those 2.2 owners that have installed the Pro Kit on their cars. I'm considering potentially picking up a set of these at some point over the summer but wanted to clear a few thigs up first. How large did the drop end up being and how much did it affect the ride? I'm mainly going for a slight drop and levelling out the car (the huge wheel gap in the rear is driving me nutts, the new Civic sits a MILE lower) which is why I'm not looking at the sportlines. With the amount of snow we can get here it just wouldn't be realistic for my daily driver...I would be plowing the roads with my grill.

Thanks!

as far as I know the only thing the pro kit changes is 1inch in the rear, the front stays the same for the SS.

however, the ss is not a 2.2 like stated in the title of the thread. i dont have them, but i dont believe it levels the car out that much. I now the sportlines my the car sit level but there's only a .2" differeence in the front and the rear in the front and the rear on the pro-kit

Ugh...if that ended up being the case it would look like I'd have to wait and hope someone releases something in between. I'm not overly opposed to the sportlines but not only do I have to worry about snow, I'd also have to look into upgrading my struts and shocks...I could probably get away without this going to the pro kit. I'll just put 8 bags of softener salt in my trunk to solve the problem the budget way .

I told you, the pro kit doesn't drop the front. It only drops the rear by 1". on COBALT SS's. on a BASE MODEL its 1" in the Front and 1.5" in the rear.

By your original post I was confused cause I don't have a 2.0...sorry bout that .

That's what I thought from reading the vendor sites but then I got conflicting ideas. I took a look at pics of Wikky's 2.2 and it looks to be sitting nice and level but I think with his lower profile tires or the angle the pics were taken at the wheel gap appears larger than it is. Since the backend sits quite a bit higher than the front the difference in drop would make sense...I'll actually get out and measure the difference after work tonight.

If the drop is in fact 1" in front as stated then that would still be more than enough and still leave it driveable in the winter as well as not create too much extra strain on the stock suspension.

That I can deal with...right now the car looks like I've put a damn lift kit in the rear end! I know there'll still be wheel gap but that'd still be noticably cut down...and like I said my largest concern is the 20 degree angle the car's sitting on right now . Guess I'll talk to my dealer about installation when I go in to get the botwie replaced and see what kinda damage I'm looking at.

I have Sportlines on my LS and they're fine, it's not so low to interfere with winter driving.

How much stiffer is the ride than stock? The struts/shocks on the SS/SC seem much stiffer and more likely to hold up to the added strain of the drop than those on the base model. I was going to look into upgrading the suspension to that on the SS/SC but after reading Halfcent's thread that doesn't sound like the best idea .

I've had mine on for about 10 days or so, and its definitely more stiff compared to stock. The car doesnt have that lag anymore when launching from a dig, you know the whole "wave" when the weight is taken from the front and shifted to the back on the springs. You can definitely feel the contours of the road better now, and its much easier to control in windy/wavy road conditions:

Overall: out of 5

there isn't any real difference in the stiffness between the sportlines, and the prolines, only the hight.

only thing you have to worry about is the shocks.
someone on here swapped to sportlines and killed his shocks in about 4000 miles, granted he did a lot of Autox ing.

I hope it lasts much longer for you guy's

i have sprints they dropped my car level 2 finger gap front and rear, but deep dips and or inclines you will touch that plastic thing under the bumper. my ride is only slightly firmer than stock.

my H&R lowered my car 2" up front and it let me about 6" of clearance under the front bumper so dont be scared for winter driving with pro kit

Thanks for all the input everyone . Still on the fence how far I'd like the drop to be...figured I'd start conservatively and see what I can talk myself into...no huge rush since summer's still around the corner .

I seriously doubt you are going to have winter issues from a sportline drop. An LS has no type of lip kit to make it lower to the ground so you are going to have alot more ground clearance than an SS/SC would.
