Question about Installing Sportlines

Hey guys, quick question... has anyone installed their springs themselves? if so, how hard is it, and what type of tools do you need? it says it's pretty easy on the turbotech website, just wondering if it really is... thx...

I haven't done it myself although I slept at a holiday in last night...

its easy, you'll need a spring compressor for the front....

you don't need a spring compressor on these cars, they're barely under any load when the struts are fully extended. i took mine off without it and they jumped maybe 6 inches. just do it outside you'll be good.

you can do it on jack stands. i used a lift but only up to jack stand capable height. you'll need to remove your struts from the front which can take a few minutes. the rears you just have to undo the lower bolt from each strut and let the rear suspension hang down, the springs pop out right after that.

thanks for the info guys, you've been really helpful... now one last question... i can work my way around a car, intake no prob, exhaust no prob... but i've never done anything with the suspension... is changing the springs something i can do myself with no experience? it doesn't sound very hard

I did that on my Z24 when I installed my sportlines, and the entire auto shop took cover! I'm lucky I found the nut. They weren't supposed to be under great pressure either! My advice is a spring compressor is a must!

If you are trying to be the smallest bit safe, I HIGHLY suggest you use a spring compressor.

i just installed my springs today with my friend(we installed it on my sedan). It took us a total of 3.5 hrs. The rear springs only took us 30 minutes total. It basically consisted of lifting the rear end of the car completely up on jack stands and lowering the rear axle(watch out for the brake lines), compressing the spring a lil and they pop right out. The front took us the rest of the time. Its just a pain with the sway bar that connects to the strut. Other from that it wasnt bad, just lining up the studs on the bottom of the strut at the end of the installation. I highly recommend another person
