So I finally installed the raceland coilovers.
the install was a bit of a pain, but if I had all proper tools it would've been fine. It rides a little rougher, as can be expected. Fronts are about 3/4 an inch higher than being bottomed out, rears are set as low as can go without removing the spring seat adjuster.
in order to put the top mounts on the front coilovers you need to put an Allen key in the center and use a 22mm pass through socket and wrench so this was devised.
and the sway bar end links bushings were totally destroyed so the bolt spun freely and it needed vice grips to grip it while wrenching, ended up just replacing those all together and taking them out with the front shocks.
I'm happy wirh the looks now, almost proud of having a cobalt lol. The rears may be starting to rub as the spring settles. So for 450 for coilovers, like 60 for strut mounts, and another 70 for sway bar links i think I did alright.
getting used to everything still, the drip has introduced alot of wobble coming out of turns so i may need ro raise the front a little
Did you have the car aligned again? The Toe will be out, if not, and that's likely what you're feeling.
Also, did you set the top hats up correctly (not sure if they use the full OE hat, but if it does use the bottom part with the tab, the direction has to be set correctly)? If not, the Camber will be off (on the positive side)... also produces a weird feeling in the steering.

its not aligned yet, the tires need replaced but I'm holding off as long as I can but I'm getting it aligned then. The top mounts were stock ones, I believe they only went in one way
Then your toe is way out and that's your issue. You likely have a handful of toe out on each wheel. You can actually set it yourself in about 10-15 minutes with two straight boards (something sheet metal would be preferred) and two tape measures. If you don't correct it... it'll eat your existing tires even faster.
The top mount consists of 3 parts. Spring Hat, Bearing, Top Hat. I'm guessing you aren't using the lower 2? The Spring Hat has a certain amount of camber built into it to account for the top mount not being directly above the knuckle mount... and so you have to have the metal tab that's on the side pointed in the correct direction. I'm betting the Racelands don't have any provisions to account for that, but if they do/did, you need to make sure you have those pointed correctly, otherwise you'll never get a straight alignment.
