Rear axle bushing
Rear axle bushing
Hey i have a rattle coming from the back over bumps (metal cluncking)and figured it was the bushing because everything else is intact and notuce alot of cobalts been having bushing issues in the rear. anyway i am going to get the bushing (OEM) at my local part shop and wondered if anyone has installed those without the kent-moore kit,or wtv kit ppl use to get the worn bushing out.im going to use the OEM bushing, how complicated is it and what tools do i need. thanks

I'm with you on the good luck. I helped Colodude change his to Powell's bushings because of the same clunk, and without the tool you're looking for some serious issues. I'm sure it can be done it will just take longer
i wonder where im going to get the tool since im getting the oem bushings at a part store and dont think they got the kits there, anyway.if i would get aftermakrter they would lend me a tool, but now i have to deal with it,do most bushing kits work for this aplication or you need this exact kit
Exact tool, I don't know why you'd put another bushing that'd fail back in, this is why I went with Powell's, it'll last the life of the car and you have his tool to install them. Took a solid 10-20 minutes of beating on the bushings with the tool to get it out (that's taking out time I took breaks and re-positioned it because I thought it wasn't working).
Yep, and are better for handling, as minor as it may be. They definitely let the twist beam move more freely but being winter I haven't driven it hard enough to notice a difference. I end up doing so many mods at once that I can't tell which is doing what. Always had a rear swaybar since I switched to Koni's and YYZ springs so never felt that drastic difference for example.
when i said oem, i meant aftermarket,i would buy the powells but right now i cant afford it and im dropping the car this summer and want to get rid of the clunk as i install my suspension.I cant afford it thats why im going with a cheaper aftermarket, but dont get me wrong,i wasnt going to put stuff from GM on it again.
