rear strut bar..??

Hey guys,

So, I was thinking yesterday.. Would a rear strut bar benefit these cars any? I know that no one makes one for the car, but I have a set of strut bars left over from my Dads Monte that I sized up and I could custom drill (even though I already have a front strut bar, I'd just use both the same ones) and use. Any ideas?

Thanks!

JBP makes one but I really dont see the point. We dont have rear struts or rear control arms.

agreed, the Cobalt race cars and Time Attack cars we built had a cross car beam front and rear, but the structure was gutted and the cage needed to replace the removed structure. You are best to leave the struts alone on a street car.

So, on our cars, it really won't do anything? I was under the impression that the stiffer the better?

stiffer is always better(lol) but in this case the rear isnt doing much, the springs are well located elsewhere and supported, as someone pointed out there are seperate springs and shocks and no strut at the rear, and the shock bracket is well anchored in the structure...so no, not worth time/effort/money for no return...

QFT. I mean if you some how put enough twist in the chassis to move the spring mounts, shock mounts and torsion beam mounts then you may need some reinforcement but unless they come out with something worlds stickier than R-comps and somehow you dont flip while cornering that hard you arent going to move all those elements at once.
