Rear Suspension Knocking
Rear Suspension Knocking
hey guys, i just lowered my 08 cobalt ls on eibach sportlines and it looks great!
i had them on for a total of three days and had no problems, and couldnt complain about the ride quality at all actually.
yesterday someone rode in the back and ever since then i have been hearing a knocking seeming to come from my rear right shock. im not sure if it is the shock or not, it honestly sounds like theres a rock in my trunk rolling around in that right corner.
i hear the knocking only at very low speeds on any and every bump, small and big.
highway driving is completely normal, which leads me to believe that it isnt a failed shock.
ive been reading around and no one seems to have the same problem as me, so im posting a tread about it, i read about endlinks and several things, but honestly i dont even know what theyre talking about.
i have stock shocks and struts, and ive inspected them for leaking and cracks or anything, and they look fine, the sound is really bothering me and i want to nip it in the butt before anything serious happens, so if you could give me any input itd be great!
thanks ahead of time

No aftermarket exhaust, I actually read about that already and tried shaking my exhaust to replicate the noise, but no results. Plus it really seems like the sound is coming from the right rear and exhaust is left aligned. I did think about the shock bolt, I'll have to try to retorque it, any other ideas guys? I could spend hours describing the noise but it's mainly like a plastic rattle, driving me crazy hahah
Thanks again for replying

If you have a camera the takes video put it under the car so you can see the suspension and then bounce the rear of the car and see if you can replicate the noise that way then watch the video to see if you see anything.
Thanks you guys for replying, but i finally found it out hahaha
Loose shock bolt... im an idiot lol
I checked it and it had worked its way alllllllmost out, but i saved it, and have a way better ride!

k which bolt is this because i have the SAME EXACT issue...i checked to see if the shock bolts were loose but maybe i overlooked something...my cars in the stealership right now for other **** and i asked them about it and they said oh its cause you have aftermarket struts/springs, but all of the other ones (front left front right rear left) don't make that annoying ass noise every time i pop over a bump. let me know when you can thanks!
