Should I get Pedders of Powell springs?
Should I get Pedders of Powell springs?
I know there are already a bunch of threads on this...but I dont know which one to get. I love how the pedders lower...but I want the best performance. Are the powell springs worth the 100 dollars over pedder springs? I also have a powell xxx bar just incase that changes any advice. I plan on doing an autocross event this month and possibly going to summit point motorsport next month. Ive never been in a car with either spring so I dont know how much of an improvement they could be. The pedder springs use to be what everyone got until like what 2 months ago when the powell springs came out. Thanks for your opinions.

That being said, you can pick up a set of pedders used for pretty cheap if you did still want to go with the pedders.
i haven't had either as well but i have seen a member go from pedders to powell springs so that should tell you something you should read his thread on it. i was looking at those as well but not to be a D*** rider but i'm going with the powell HC rear sway with their springs and koni yellows.. lol gud thing bout the koni yellows is my car is yellow to so they should look pretty sexy.
I went through the exact same decision you did just a few months ago. I was actually going to get pedders but held off when I heard powell was developing something. I think it all comes down to what you want out of the car. If you want a decent drop that maintains about the same handling, then pedders is for you, but if you want the best handling and don't mind that it only drops 0.50-0.75", then powell's yyz is for you. I don't need the slammed look, and I wanted the best handling since I autocross and track the car once in a while so I went with the yyz. They are a little more expensive, but they are still way cheaper than coilovers, plus you're only going to change your springs once so you might as well do it right the first time.

The thing is I wanted a little drop to close the wheel gap but whatever I guess. I wont be tracking it enough to decide which one off that. Are either spring better for daily driving than the stock springs?

If you want the best possible handling, YYZ.
If you want good handling with a bit moar low, go pedders.
Ok I mean Ill be driving this car for a long time this is my transportation to college. Ill put alot of miles on it. I guess pedders wouldnt be a great idea. I dont want it to sag over time. Do the powell springs make a smoother ride on the road?
Some coilovers aren't made for handling, and some are. If I remember correctly, the KW Variant 2 are supposed to be the best handling ones, but nobody is really running them because they are expensive and people just want "moar low".
ya well i mean if I bought coilovers i would be all about getting low....but...since im not interested in paying that much I figure just to go for performance. I cant go low with springs without risking blowing the struts and damaging other parts over time.
hhhmmm not sure bout shelling out the price of the KW 2's and not track alot i mean i would love a closer drop with very good street performance..i mean should the yyz's settle lower after awhile? i was looking at the H&R springs but that ODEEE low so now im between the 2 myself....smh decisions.

I have Pedders currently with a hardcore bar and love how the car drives... its 100% too fast to be a heap ass fwd Chevy car... with that said i'm considering going with YYZ springs or KW V2's and I remember reading that the Stance GR+ actually had decent spring rates and good valving as well...
Lets get serious about "clunking" When weak springs coil bind its possible to get noise, Pedders sometimes have that even new, and expecially older ones. SSC/CM also suffer from that, at the rear after they sag and lose rate, I have seen them fall out.
But all that is pretty extreme. If you have a clunk after installing YYZ springs I can say this: its not the spring, check the install and other parts of the suspension etc.
If, due to some miracle of circumstance , a YYZ spring does have a problem due to a fault with the spring (not a wreck!) , inspite of what I said and believe that it cant/wont happen, you will have the spring (s) replaced immediately, or upon receipt of the springs returned, a refund of the money you paid not including shipping. Thats all I got for now!
Enjoy your ride!

this CTS-V does trackdays at Roebling Road and CMP and a few other places and after one of the stints we did on the OutlawRun he asked me WTF was done to the car because it was FAST.
