Someone please clear this up

Ok, I've searched and searched but keep finding different answers. I'm looking to buy the ST front and rear sway bar kit for my 06 2.2L. Turbotechracing.com says it fits the base models only so I thought cool just what I wanted. Upon further searching of various other sites some say it only fits cobalts that already have a rear sway bar. I have looked underneath the car, found the front one obviously but the rear is the question. There is a bar located between what I guess would be the rear axle, but not what I would consider a sway bar. It has no bushings from what I can see and I have no clue how you would even get it out in the first place. So my question is will the ST sway bars fit my car. If not then I'm just getting the rear one from Progressive, but how do they fit if I don't already have a stock rear bar. Sorry for the long post but this is bugging the hell out of me. Any info will help especially those that have it already on their 2.2L.

Well hopefully I can shed a little bit of light on this, from my personal experiences, i went with the FE5 front sway bar (stock on SS/SC's) due to it being bigger than the one that comes with the ST kit, and I am going to pair it with the progress one in the rear as I have heard great reviews on it, I know that the sway bar that you are seeing is almost "built in" to the frame, and I am assuming that the ST rear is similar to the progress in that it is an extra bolt on sway bar on top of the one on there. The kit is definetely nice in that you can order that and be done with it, but I am glad that I went my route as well, I have not done much research on the ST setup but based on others that I have seen I am guessing that is is designed similarly. Im sorry that I cannot provide specific info for you but hopefully some of this generic stuff will be of use, hope this helps man!

Oh and also if you went the FE5 front and progress rear route, you could hop in the great possible group buy going on for the Progress rear sway!

Thanks Danklite that does help. I thought I heard someone talking about it bolting into a different location than stock but I wasnt sure if the ST bar did that as well.

Yeah I was thinking about that but how did you get your hands on the FE5? Dealer?

Crate Engine Depot, I will get all of my GM parts from them, great guys to work with and unbeleivable shipping times, I have ordered the gmpp exhaust from them and also the sway bar, great products and great service, but go whatever route you want man, I am curious to hear about the ST setup, I cant wait to put the progress rear on, the FE5 stiffened up the front big time and it will probably do wonders with the rear installed.....

And I dont think that that cleared anything up......dont see the need to jack the thread like that, just asking a simple question, that is what the forum is designed to do

Im sure whichever you go with will be a big improvement over stock, but if ur looking to keep some GM parts on the car for warranty sake, go the FE5 front route and Progress rear, and I think we only need 3 more guys to get the group buy to go in affect, the cost for that bar in the group buy price is 125 shipped! cant beat that at all, and I think totalled with my front bar it ended up costing a little over a hundred bucks, so thatll end up totalling 225ish, not too bad, just something to think about ha, good luck in your decision glad I could help

Oh and for number comparison, the FE5 front bar is 24mm.....just something else to use for ur decision

I think the FE5 setup with the Progress Bar is a very tried and true setup that many people have used, and continue to use. If I were in your shoes, I'd go that route.
