squeeking brakes

squeeking brakes

its been about 30 degrees here for a month or so. and everytime i go to slow down there is a decently loud squeeking coming from my brakes any idea of what it is? if i hard moderately hard though there is no squeek only when i gradually slow down. any info would be awesome. thanks

I have it too. It stops when the brakes warm up.

you should be fine...its winter time anyways so keep the speeds down and you wont have to brake so hard.

I heard that brake dust can also cause them to sqeak.... since its cold, many people dont wash there cars, when you do wash it, wash out where your brakes and cailpers are, should fix it, if not, i dont know, my old brakes did that, took it to the car wash and problem fixed.... but my new GMPP vented/sloted Rotors and Pads dont have a problem at all........

I washed it like 2 dayz ago and only drove for 50km and its happening

Yup, same thing here! Really loud squeal if it is under about 35*....


Glad to know I am not alone on this one! Edited I only have 13,000 miles on mine!

hmmm, i dont know then, I was told that by someone and after each wash, it stoped for awhile, but now with my new Brakes, it doesnt do it at all....

it seems that most of our cars are still under warranty. I wonder if we make a big enough deal about it to the dealer, if they would do aything about it for free....

that would be nice. But I would think at the very least a new set o f pads...how long are pads suppossed to last?

at 40k KM's My front were done and rear were 50% I do drive a little aggresive though....

Yeah, I loose respect for a car/driver when they come pulling up to be squeekin. I dont want that to be me.

i get the squeek as well. told by my shop foreman to just clean the brakes all that but here's one for you guys next time you go over a speed bump mute your stereo and you'll more then likely hear your suspension squeek so bad if its cold out.
