Thumbs down steering wheel is off center....

Hey guys i just have a quick question. I recently had my 2007 g5 coupe in for service to get a new steering I-Shaft and a control arm bushing and ever since i got it back, when im driving in a straight line my steering wheel is turned to the right. So... will a wheel alignment fix this or do they have to do something with the I-Shaft?.......I dont think its any big deal cause the car dont wonder off to the side i think the steering wheel is just off of center....I dunno..... I Hope just a wheel alignment will fix this...any response would be good.....Thanks..

the steering rack ends are not equal; make them equal, verify that the alignment is correct and you will be fine....the steering wheel itself is located on a master spline and cannot be attached off center to the steering column....merry christmas

actually you can put the steering colum shaft off center from the intermediate shaft....they didn't have it lined up straight when they put the new shaft in.

SO....Can a simple wheel alignment fix this problem or do they have to dis-assemble the steering shaft or column...????

can you read?

no, a simple alignment will not fix this problem

your intermediate shaft wasnt aligned correctly when they installed it.

he can read so try not to be rude. The frickin guy is in Newfoundland and you are in Michigan. None of us know for sure that the I shaft was incorrectly installed. Most alignment shops are sloppy when doing alignments, and dont mark tie rods, therefore making the toe correct but the tie rods unqual length which leads to an offset steering wheel. In addition, if the flca trailing bushing is torn worn or damaged, the steering wheel will become crooked. None of this we know as we are not there, so chill...merry christmas.

If the intermediate shaft was replaced and the off center occured immediately after this is gonna be the most likely cause. The I-shaft isnt keyed to the column, its got multiple poistions it can go back on in.

You need to go back to the dealer and have them properly index the column to the shaft.( or rememdy whatever the actual cause is, if the Ishaft isnt the issue)
