Arrow Steering wheel wobble (lets solve this damn problem)

Sounds like many of us are having this same problem...At speeds (over 30mph) my steering wheels wobbles. Car doesn't feel stable in the twisties anymore either

Some have blow money at the dealer which end up not fixing the problem.

Who has had this similar issue and what was the cause?

Things Ive thought could be the cause:
* wheel bearing
* outter tie rod
* CV joint
* ball joint
* control arm bushings <---pretty sure these are not the cause.
* Intermediate shaft bearing
* axles
* alignment <--- car doesn't pull right or left much at all, so this could be some but not all of the problem.

These have been ruled out: \/ ...On my winter rims and tires I still have the same problems.
* Tire balance
* Bad tire
* bent rim

I've been dying to find a solution to this. I've been living with this problem at least for three months now.

Bad brake caliper, warped rotor? I had the problem it was a seizing brake piston in the caliper when it got hot, and caused it to drag and the wheel would shake it could be a number of things

What lowering springs are you running. As soon as i installed my H&rs i had this problem, its from like 25-40 then goes away, til WOT. Im thinking its the car being too low and the axles binding or something similar.

bump, lets fix this ****!

Im on Pedders TC set up with the rack spacers...although I was on Sportlines for the past 3 years. Maybe my axles are shot. When I look at them nothing appears out of the norm.

I have a bit of wobble at highway speeds also. Happened after I hit a pothole. Replaced tire. Tire place balanced both front wheels and said that neither was bent, so now I'm stuck. Had an alignment also. I have rebuilt the front suspension with new parts except for the rack and axles. Hmm...

Well if the car did this since day one I could see that being the case but it hasn't.

My end links are very new. They're the beefier than stock Moog replacements.

So i played with the axles a little and I have some in and out play and up and down. My tie rods and end links appear to be fine. What boggles me is it's inconsistant. Sometimes it's much worse than others.

I think the axles are suppose to have a little play, mine do the same thing.

My tie rods and endlinks are also in good shape.

How would we know if are ball joints are bad? I have my control arms off the car right now. The ball joint move around a bit if I try to move it around by hand.

see the classic symptom of wobbling steering wheel is improperly balanced tires or improperly mounted tires (road force matching is available on certain balancers) a bad roadforce will cause a wobble as well

^^ Yessir, I've covered most all of the bases lol. It has been an excuse to upgrade some stuff, but I still have the problem sometime. Now it's even worse with the TVS torque steer lol.

The only other thing I can think of is wheel bearings, and the steering rack actually being worn. The dealer said they'd take a look at it, but it seems like a PITA, and my dealer is slow. I had to take it back 6 times to get them to replace all of the worn trim in the interior lol.

balancing and roadforcing are 2 differen't things. balancing only makes the wheel balanced as the name states. road forcing is literally matching the tire to the rim with the high and low spots of each. most of the time a tire mounting will go fine without the need for road forcing but other times they will not. GM's spec for our cars is no more then 18lbs of road force. most shops will not roadforce unless requested to roadforce because it takes longer. sometimes you even have to swap tires to a differen't rim to get them to line up properly

Aaaaa, I see /\ ...we'll my tires were great on my car for the first years.

When I get new tires I'll let the know, but I still pretty sure there's an issue somewhere else.
