strut bar diameter for fabrication

Im getting ready to make a run of strut bars for cobalts. My experience for this application is bigger will return more strength and is better. right now Im testing a 1" sqaure tube .083 (IIRC) thick wall strut bar. this sucker is solid and almost like a rock. I had a slight install issue with the wiper motor bolt, which required me to almost remove the bolt and the retighen once the bar was on place. It is a tight fit. however for ease of real world install it seems as though 3/4 will have to do. Again this is .083 thick walls with seamless structural steel tubing. Just wanted to get opinions from folks who delt with different sizes.

Won;t sell all that well, as it has no effect on handling for these cars. Good luck though

The cobalts dont benefit from stut bars, the struts are welded to the firewall.

The only thing you will get is a show peice, but thats it

condering theres a lot of companies that already make them idk how great the selling would be but im sure they would sell some what. however they search absolutely no purpose on our cars. do you plan on making this for the standard and lsj models or lnf? lnf models have the charge piping in the way and also the brake booster and master cylinder for those that wanted to run it behind the charge piping. me and a company are coming up with a design for those who want the bling factor on the lnf

this is based off of a 2.4L 06 cobalt. 65 bucks will be the price. I have lasered plates that i plan to weld the tubing to. Then I will powder coat them.

Im trying to get some business from the cobalt guys instead of the classic mustang world. Its just a feeler.

I apologize if I/we came across harsh. It is in now way to bash your product, nor the quality.

I did not state that it wouldn't sell, i just said not well. Of course people will buy it, but it does not add to the structural integrity of the vehicle.

I have one that is there purely for looks, as that's all it will accomplish.
