Could be that your spring is not lined up properly, i think it tells you in the instructions that you have to line them up.
Also could be lower control arm bushings or even upper strut mount. Usually a strut will leak fluid if it's bad also.

make sure the bolt is tightened at the top. If its loose it will do that. Try opening the door and kinda jumping on the sill a little and see if it clunks.

I am having nightmares with this problem. Possibly worn couplers and I may need a new rack although the dust boots are bone dry it may be worn in the pinion or the rack itself. I get clunks even when sitting still turning the wheel. Not much delay...but it feels loose when driving. Could this have anything to do with electronic assist power steering? Do I just have worn struts? I have been doing this for a while and I can't even figure it out. I guess I have to get adjustables and see if it goes away.

jack up front of car and try to wiggle tire back and forth, might be tie rod wear.

you only cut the bump stops in the rear, not the front.. the front is where the problem is, I guess im just going to buy the kyb struts

I have had the same problem since they were installed like 2 years ago, this winter its really starting to **** me off though. How would one go about to check if the bumpstops were cut properly?

the only way you can check if the bumpstops in the front is to take out the whole assembly.,..

Reason I know its the bumpstops was because of a stupid mistake me and my friend made, We installed them without cutting the bumpstops, everytime i hit a little rivet in the road, or the shocks absorbed any type of bump it made a loud clunking noise... Then i looked at my directions saw that the bumpstops needed to be cut re-did the instal and cut the bumpstops and BOOM guess what... Perfect ride

I didn't recall seeing where it said to cut the front ones, I only recall it saying to cut the rear ones, Ill cut them this weekend and let you guys know if this fixes the prob, it's weird it only clunks on the right side, it clunked alittle before I installed the springs but now its louder? I figured it was just the struts going bad,

anyway thanks for throwing it out there

Usually the clunking is something as simple as not tightening down the rear shock fully on the top n bottom.

bump stops are a good candidate. never considered that and I dropped it a whole 2 inches. I put the thing on a lift and checked for steering play. Nothing, I just need an alignment. I am going to check my sway bar links and bushings next time I think it may be that. GM performance makes spindles for the SS. That says something right there as well. If our spindles can't handle the abuse of lowering there is obviously a big issue there.

Problem Solved....

I got under the car today to look around to see if anything was loose and found that one of my sway bar links had a loose bolt I tightened it up & took it for a test drive & problem solved no more clunk , didn't have to remove the front bump stops thank god, I really didn't feel like taking the struts off the car again..

I was just going to post about that! I have been doing a lot of research on the electronic power steering and rack assemblyin the past few days. check for play around the dust boots (you can have someone jiggle the wheel while you keep a tight grip around the boot you will feel the ball joint) if there is play your inner tie rod may be loose, and shake your hub assembly left to right and feel around the ball joints for looseness. These are routine checks for suspension clunk. Make sure your car's ignition is on when you do this so the electric power steering is on. My problem was the pinch bolt on the coupler on the steering shaft. there is a spline that holds the steering true to the pinion gear but if there is play it will feel loose and start to clunk. it sounds like a sway bar end link or a tie rod! even a strut at times. Careless mechanics did this when I had my clutch done, it is supposed to be torqued to 25 ft/lbs and it was barely even fastened. and the whole time I thought my struts blew out. If they are not leaking you have nothing to worry about!
